19 Weeks With Baby #4

DATE: April 12, 2013

How far along:
19 Weeks!

 Due Date:  September 6, 2013

Total Weight Gained:
None.  My regular pants are still loose.

How big is baby?  Our Sweet Pea weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom.  He/She is about the size of a large heirloom tomato.  At the ultrasound, OUR baby measured about a week ahead, and the tech estimated the weight to be around 12 ounces.

How baby is growing
: The brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that baby may be able to hear your voice now.  The arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of the body. The kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on the scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on the skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.  From babycenter.com.

Maternity Clothes: None. My regular clothes are still loose.  My baby bump is starting to show under my regular clothes, but maternity shirts are too baggy in the stomach area right now.

Sleep: I'm sleeping well at night, but I now wake up at least once to use the bathroom.  I've been feeling really tired lately, which I thought was due to the sinus infection, but it was most likely caused by my anemia.

Best Pregnancy Moment of the Week:
Seeing our beautiful baby at the big ultrasound!

Movement:  The baby is moving a lot now! He/She was incredibly active at our ultrasound! Grant even got to feel a tiny kick the other night!

Food Cravings: None.

Food Aversions:
Everything.  Specifically this week:  Mint gum, pizza, Mexican food, grilled cheese, and tomato soup.

Morning Sickness:
I still have hyperemesis, although my new higher dose of Zofran keeps me from throwing up as frequently during the day.  The nausea is always present, though!

Gender:
It's a surprise! We didn't find out with Dylan, Lexie, and Lily either!

Symptoms:
Horrible morning (ALL DAY) sickness, Braxton Hicks contractions, exhaustion, headaches/migraines, pulling of the muscles around the uterus, a slight cramping around the uterus (OB assured me it's normal), peeing more frequently, and irritability

Exercise: I did a walk/run combo on the treadmill four days this week.

What I miss: Feeling normal.  I can't remember what it's like to not feel sick!

What I'm looking forward to:
My belly looking more pregnant and less bloated!  Only family and friends know that I'm pregnant right now.  Nobody else has noticed!

  2. You're so cute! When I was 19 weeks pregnant, I looked like I was about to give birth. ;-)

So sorry you're having to deal with the nausea all the time. I had it pretty bad with Bryce, but the Zofran kept it away. I hope you start feeling better soon!
