We are right in the middle of a long, busy weekend. We've been so busy over the past few days that I had to take a brief blog hiatus.
We've been growing Chia Pets. And not smiling because it was so hot at Dylan's T-Ball game.
We went shopping and hung out with friends.
We celebrated my great niece, Aubrey's 4th Birthday, with a big party. The kids are so lucky to have so many cousins...many of which are close in age! We only get to see Aubrey every few months, and Dylan and Lexie adore her. Aubrey and Lexie had so much fun having "girl time" while all the boys ran around.
The past week has been really hot, so we headed out to buy a little pool for the kids today. After eating our dinner outside, the kids were thrilled to jump into their new pool. It lasted for about 5 seconds. The water was ice cold!
Dylan was a trooper, and decided to go back in. Once he got over the initial shock, he ended up staying in for a while.
This is as far as Lexie got:
I'm sure that the water will be warm by tomorrow afternoon!
In the next two days we have a memorial day picnic to attend, a birthday party to go to, a visit to the zoo planned, and a T-Ball game! We're looking forward to having a lot of fun!
*While you enjoy your cookouts, cold drinks, days on the lake, and day off of work remember those who serve and have served. Remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for YOU. Remember them. Honor them. Thank them.*

Watermelon Welcome and Awards
Dylan had yet another Kindergarten event today. This is now the third one...this school district really wants their students prepared!
Today's event was the Watermelon Welcome. I have to admit, I really didn't want to go, but it turned out to be a good time.
The kids got to play on the computers in the computer lab and watch a video about what going to Kindergarten is going to be like. Then, they made flower pots (I'm guessing there's a flower seed planted in them) and read a story, while the principal talked to the parents about the Kindergarten curriculum, rules, and guidelines. After that, the kids made an art project with the Kindergarten teachers and talked about what they're going to learn in Kindergarten. The day ended with them eating watermelon, playing on the playground, and riding a school bus.
Tonight, Dylan had a T-Ball game. He was really hitting and running well! He loves playing baseball! It was SO hot, though. It was around 90, and everybody was sweating, especially those poor kids!
When we got home, we couldn't live any longer without AC. So on it went, and we're comfortable now!
And now for some awards!

Here are the rules:
1. Thank the person that gave you this award.
Thanks again, Shannon!
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
* I stay up entirely too late. I usually don't get to bed until at least 2 AM. I'm working on that.
* I love Simon Cowell. Yes, he's my "older" man crush. There's just something about him...
* I was a vegetarian from the time I was 8 years old until I was 20. To this day, I eat very little meat, and it's mainly poultry.
* I met my husband when we were cast as Adam and Eve in a musical. We started dating on March 21, 1999 and got engaged on May 17, 1999. We got married a year later, when I was 20 and he was 21, and we'll be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this year! Our wedding was a production: Lots of awesome vocalists and even a bagpiper!
* I hate flying. Hate it. The last time I flew was for our honeymoon in Mexico, in 2000.
* I am a crossword puzzle/trivia/Quiddler/Scrabble Slam addict, and I love to read!
*To this day, people can't figure out why I didn't go to college. They think I threw away my high GPA, my scholarships, and all my college acceptances. I can't live in the past. What's done is done. I was set to go up until a month before, and then I decided to wait a year. Everything that happened from that point on led me to where I am today. I have a wonderful family now, and they are my everything. I may not have a college degree, but I still have my intelligence.

Slip and Slide
*Don't forget to enter my Bea's Bows Giveaway!*
It was unseasonably hot here today. It felt like a summer day. I could only think of one way to beat the heat:
Pull out the slip and slide. I just may have slipped and slid myself...fully clothed. What can I say? It was HOT!
They slipped and slid their way to naptime!

These Are The Moments
*Don't forget to enter my Bea's Bows Giveaway!*
The ladybug clips from Bea's Bows arrived yesterday, and I was on a mission to capture a shot to show just how adorable they looked in Lexie's hair. They are so cute, and match her ladybug dress perfectly!
Unfortunately, by the time I pulled out the camera, Lexie had skipped her nap and was beyond miserable. She still needs her daily nap, and falls apart when she doesn't get one. Getting her to look at the camera was practically impossible.
I did, however, capture two wonderful pictures. I love my parents dearly, and am amazed at the relationship they have with Dylan and Lexie. Dylan and Lexie adore them. We had dinner with my parents tonight, and after dinner, Lexie helped them water their flowers. When I uploaded the pictures, I fell in love with these two shots.
I love the fact that Dylan and Lexie get to spend so much time with their grandparents. These are the moments that they are going to remember fondly. As am I!
********************
Because it's Tuesday, I have to include a quick Tuesday Tidbits!
Lexie calls sunscreen "summer screen." No matter how many times I correct her, she continues to call it that.
I can't get over how sweet she sounds when she says "I'm sorry." She looks at me with those big brown eyes, and says, "I'm sawwy, Mommy. I so sawwy." How can I not forgive her after that?
Dylan's tooth is hanging on by a thread. He now has many questions about the tooth fairy. "What does she look like? How much money does she leave?" Then, the tough one: "How does she know when somebody loses a tooth?" My response? "She's like Santa Claus. She just knows."

On The Wings Of A Butterfly, I Shall Soar
*Don't forget to enter my Bea's Bows Giveaway!*
Every time I see a butterfly, I am reminded of my grandma. She loved butterflies, and passed the love on to me. Whenever I see one nearby, I like to think that it's her way of saying hello.
The kids and I were outside, enjoying a beautiful day, when a little butterfly began flying all around us. For several minutes, it circled us, almost as if it were playing, before it came to a stop on Lexie's hand.
I ran to get the camera, thinking that I would miss capturing that moment. But, no. This butterfly sat on Lexie's hand for at least 5 minutes. She was enthralled!
Dylan really wanted to hold the butterfly, but I was sure it was going to fly away. Surprisingly, when he held his finger up to the butterfly, it climbed right on.
When I put my finger out, it climbed over to me. Unbelievable!
We were all amazed and touched by the interaction with the butterfly. I finally lifted my finger in the air, and the little butterfly flew away, to continue on it's journey. At that moment, all I could think of was my Grandma, and I whispered hello.
--------------------
We had a great day! I came up with a loose summer schedule, and it feels really good to have a schedule again. We spent most of our afternoon outside.
When Lexie ran off in tears, I knew we had to head inside for a nap. That little girl breaks my heart when she gets upset.
My finger is still hurting (and will be for the next few weeks, as I'm told), and I'm seriously concerned about the fate of my fingernails. The thought of losing a fingernail is repulsive, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. There is a lot of pressure under both nails.
Despite the sore finger, I began running again, after a 2 week break. It felt so good to run again! I always enjoy my little breaks, but don't realize how much I miss running until I start back up!
After dinner, we headed back outside to play some more. The kids and the dog had a blast racing around the yard together. They ended up collapsing in a heap. There is just something so cute about kids and their dogs!
After some ice cream and a bath, the kids headed to bed. Of course, Dylan stayed awake for hours, in bed, trying to pull out his loose tooth. It is hanging on by a thread! After a year of having a loose tooth, I think the tooth fairy is finally going to be visiting our house this week!

Graduates and Puddle Jumping
*Don't forget to enter my Bea's Bows Giveaway in the post below this one!!!*
Yet another crazy weekend has come and gone!
On Saturday morning, the kids and I took my nephew, Brady, to his last soccer game. I offered to take him, so he didn't have to miss the game for his brother's Pre-K graduation. I wish I had some pictures to share of the little soccer star, but it was pouring. It started when we pulled in to the parking lot, and never ended. By the end of the game, we were all drenched, and the kids were miserable and clinging to me. I didn't realize that soccer doesn't cancel games due to rain! (Shhh...that's why I prefer baseball.) I did enjoy watching Brady score goals, though!
We had a good laugh when one of the coaches opened the back of the van, right before we pulled out, thinking it was his car! He got quite a surprise: Brady's rear end, as he was changing in the cargo area! I don't know who was more shocked-Brady or the coach!
After the game, we headed to my sister's house for a Pre-K graduation party. Dylan and two of my nephews, Brandon and Jackson, all graduated from Pre-K this year! (That's right, my poor parents had three pregnant daughters (and a pregnant daughter-in-law) at the same time!) We all had a great time honoring the three graduates!
It was a crazy (but fun) day!
After the busy week that we had, we spent the day at home. It was a nice family day, complete with spending time outdoors, taking a family nap, enjoying a delicious dinner, playing Wii bowling, and watching a movie.
Since it rained so much yesterday, the kids enjoyed jumping in some puddles today!
I am officially in the summer vacation mode!
