365 Project: Week 21

{May 20th}

After an afternoon trip to Petsmart to get fish supplies, we spent hours in our backyard, enjoying the summer-like weather.  Lots of water play and grilling out!  Perfect!

We spent the day at home, recovering from the craziness of last week!

I babysat all day, then we went to Dylan's baseball game.  He was a hitting machine! My sister and her family were at the fields for soccer practice at the same time, so she took the girls for a while so I could watch Dylan play, and then they chatted with us for a while before leaving.  After the game, we rewarded Dylan by going to Dairy Queen for some ice cream!

{May 23rd}
In the morning, the girls and I met my best friend and her boys at the library for a playdate, and then we headed to the park for a bit. After the park, Grant joined us to take Lily for repeat blood work.  This time, the tech was amazing.  It only took one stick!  Lily let out a tiny yell right after the needle went in, then sat perfectly still! I was shocked!  We ran some errands before returning home.  That night, we headed over to our friend's house for dinner.  Unfortunately, we didn't stay long, because her poor baby girl starting throwing up just before we got there. It was still nice to see them, even if it was for a short time!

{May 24th}

Lexie had a Watermelon Welcome, which was another even for the kids attending Kindergarten in the Fall.  She got to do activities with the Kindergarten teachers, ride a bus, and play on the playground.  That night, Dylan had a baseball game.  He was so excited to get the game ball!  After the game, one of the coaches treated them to ice cream.  When we got there, he came thisclose to being hit by a car.  I swear, my heart stopped. Thankfully, everything turned out fine.

That morning, I had lunch with Dylan at his school.  I picked up some Subway, and we sat on a picnic blanket on the school's lawn.  It was nice to spend time with just him!  Afterward, the girls and I went to my parent's house to visit.  Lexie was so excited to meet their new kitten! That night, Dylan, Lily, my mom, and I went shopping, while Lexie spent time with my Dad.  After having dinner with them, and visiting with my sister, we headed home for the night.

Dylan had a baseball tournament, so we were at the field for over 4 hours.  It was scorching outside, so Grant's mom watched the girls for the remaining 3 hours.  Dylan played well, but we were all relieved when the second game was over.  That night, we stayed home.  It was the first Saturday night in months that we didn't have plans!  It was nice to relax a bit!

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  The past three days were packed with activities!

I left off with the baseball tournament on Saturday.  It was HOT, but it was nice watching Dylan play.  He played so well, despite the heat.  That evening, we actually didn't have plans.  This was the first Saturday night in months that we didn't have plans. It was a nice break!

My great niece, Aubrey, turned 6 on Sunday.   I saw her just minutes after she was born. I can't believe she's 6!  She is such a sweet girl, and I love her so much!

We celebrated her birthday with a fun party!

My family and I sat outside for 8 1/2 hours.  We were supposed to get a big storm, but it passed right over us.  I had so much fun spending time with them!

That night, Dylan went home with one of my sisters to have a sleepover with my nephews.  Lexie attempted her first sleepover at Aubrey's house, but shortly after we got home, we got the call that she wanted to come home, too.  It wasn't a big deal, because they just live a mile away!

Memorial Day was a great start to the summer.  It was so hot!  It hit 95 degrees by the middle of the day.

On our way to a picnic, we picked Dylan up from a local pool.  He had been swimming for 4 hours straight!  Lexie got car sick just as we got to the store to pick something up. She ended up throwing up all over herself, so we skipped the store! I had a brief moment of panic, because some friends of ours just suffered through a horrible stomach virus, but it was just her getting car sick! Phew!

Shortly after arriving at the picnic, Dylan looked drained.  I asked him if he wanted a nap, and he said yes.  I'm not even kidding when I say he fell asleep in just a minute.

He slept while the girls played, and the rest of us ate.  We did eat indoors because it was too hot and humid for Grant's dad to be outside.

It was nice spending time with Grant's family!

After dinner and dessert, we headed out to swim with our friends.  The kids stayed in the pool the entire time!  Lily even went for her very first swim, and LOVED it!  Within seconds of getting in, she was giggling and splashing!

When the sun went down, I climbed out of the pool, because Lily was starting to shiver.  I sat and talked to my friend while everyone else continued to swim.  Finally, darkness fell, and we had to get the kids home!

They were reluctant to leave, but we did promise them we'd be swimming with our friends a lot this summer!

It was a nice Memorial Day weekend.  I am so grateful to all those who have served or are now serving our wonderful country!

Baseball Tournament

Today was Dylan's baseball division's Round Robin Tournament.

Those two games were quite possibly the hottest, most humid games we've ever sat through.  We were all miserable just sitting there under the blazing sun, so I really felt for the players!

Dylan had two games, back to back.  As the first game neared an end, it was evident that I had to get the girls out of the sun.  The baby, especially, looked miserable.

Grant's mom called us back, and told us to bring the girls to her house.  I loaded the girls into the car and drove them to her house, just a few minutes away.

Just over an hour outside...

I returned to the field, and Grant and I watched Dylan play his second game.  He played hard, despite the heat, hitting hard and scoring runs.  It was nice watching him play, without distraction.

Dylan's team won the second game, so the boys were very happy!  They were filthy, hot, sweaty, and grinning as they left the field!

Photobucket

Honestly?  I think they were grinning because they were relieved they could finally get out of the heat!!!

Photobucket

I have to admit, I was thrilled to get into the car and crank up the AC!

I was really proud of how well Dylan played today!  He stuck with it, despite the suffocating heat.  Go, Mars Black!
