Snip Snip

Lily celebrated turning 4 weeks old today by getting her tongue snipped.

Her version of the story:

Hey peeps! Let me just tell you about the day I had! I'm still recovering from it.

Photobucket

My parents totally fooled me. They woke me up from a sound sleep and took me for a car ride, without feeding me first. After a long wait, they put me on a table with crinkly paper. I was thoroughly fascinated by the lights, and was just relaxing and smiling when the doctor and nurse came in.

Photobucket

My mommy and daddy got kicked out of the room and something terrible happened. I screamed with all my might, but soon found my way back into my mommy and daddy's arms. Just look what they did:

Photobucket

It was already bad enough that I'm suffering from heat rash...

Photobucket

I sure showed them though. I slept all day long. I had to recover from that horror.

Photobucket

I clutched my blankie for extra protection.

Photobucket

Hours later, I'm still ticked off. Seriously.

Photobucket

But I think it's pretty cool that I can do this now:

Photobucket

Psst...change my diaper...it's full and falling off of me! Oh, and vacuum that rug!

Okay, moving on...I'm not all that happy with the way my morning turned out.

Photobucket

Thank goodness I'll recover fast!

*****Mommy's note: I cried right along with you, baby girl! You will feel better in the morning! Happy 4 weeks, Liliana!

Mini D

Dylan has a look-alike! Lily is most definitely a female version of him. I first noticed the resemblance shortly after she was born, and since then, I have often been surprised at just how much she resembles him!

They have the same eyes, nose, and mouth. The only difference is that Dylan was born with dark brown hair and Lily has really light blond hair.

The other day, Lily was relaxing in her swing, and it made me think of a picture of Dylan as a newborn. I immediately found the picture, and showed the kids. I asked them who they thought the picture was of, and they both shouted, "Lily!!!"

The picture of Dylan was taken when he was just a few days old. He was very jaundiced at the time!

Photobucket

6 and 3/4 years later...same swing, same blanket, and a lighter-haired look alike! (Don't worry, I took the blanket away. She was nuzzling it while falling asleep!)

Down on the Farm

Photobucket

On Saturday, we got together with Grant's family, for a family reunion/birthday party. The last reunion with this side of the family was in the late nineties, so it was my first time meeting most of them!

The guest of honor was Grant's grandpa's cousin. I have actually met her before, at our wedding. She was the only woman born into the family until Lexie came along! Now there are three of them, and two of them belong to us!

Photobucket

After we ate, the kids were very eager to explore the farm!

Even Lily got to kick back and relax!

Dylan and Lexie spent their day picking walnuts and apples, and searching for caterpillars. Grant, however, won the prize for the most exciting find of the day. Apparently, he's very lucky, because these creatures are almost impossible to find:

Photobucket

It was a Hickory Horned Devil, which turns into a Regal Moth. It quickly became the hit of the party!

Photobucket

It was the biggest caterpillar I've ever seen, and I doubt we'll ever see one again!

Photobucket

After the excitement over the caterpillar died down, we took a picture with the entire group, and then it was time to head home.

It was a great day! Everybody was so nice, and the location was absolutely gorgeous. We all had fun!

Confession of a Not-So-Tired New Mom

Liliana is 3 weeks old today! I seriously can't wrap my mind around the fact that 3 weeks have passed since she was born. Time needs to s-l-o-w down!

Photobucket

Lily is an angel baby! She likes to sleep...a lot.

Photobucket

She has her fussy moments...

Photobucket

...but it usually means that she wants to cuddle or go back to sleep.

We were blessed for the third time with a good sleeper. She kicked it off by sleeping for 4 hours straight on her first night out of the womb. We thought it was a fluke, but she repeated it the following night.

Since we came home from the hospital, she has been sleeping 5-6 hours at night before waking to eat, then goes back to bed until I wake up in the morning. She knows the moment I wake up, and joins me. She eats again, and then goes back to sleep for several hours.

Photobucket

She is more alert during her awake moments now, but my girl loves to sleep. This mama? Not tired. Somebody must have thought 35 weeks of daily morning sickness was enough, and decided to go easy on me!

Photobucket

I love my sweet baby girl!!!

Happy 3 weeks, Liliana!

Happenings

It feels like we haven't had a chance to relax since we left the hospital with Liliana! Life is just busy with three kids, and I completely forgot what it's like the first few weeks at home, with all the visitors. Somebody always wants to stop by to meet or see Lily! She is loved!

Over the past few days, we've been...

...riding bikes.

Photobucket

...taking care of our injured horse.

Photobucket

...snuggling with the sweetest baby girl.

Photobucket

...playing in the rain.

Photobucket
Photobucket

...celebrating half birthdays (Happy half birthday, Lexie! Oh-and happy 6 years and 9 months, Dylan!) with a very first trip to the dentist. Perfect checkup!

Photobucket

...and enjoying the beautiful, cooler weather with a trip to the park!
