Every Memorial Day, I take a moment to think about all the men and women who died while serving our country. Memorial Day is the start of the carefree days of summer, but I think it's important to remember that all those carefree moments are made possible by the brave people who gave their lives for our country.
Memorial Day felt like a summer day. The weather was gorgeous, spirits were high, and the promise of long, hot, lazy summer days lingered in the air.
There were plenty of carefree moments.
Friends to play with...
(Oh, boys!)
A first Memorial Day to celebrate...
Watermelon to eat...
Siblings to snuggle...
Sweet moments shared with best friends...
Birthdays to celebrate...
Delicious picnic food...
Sunshine to soak up...
And plenty of outdoor play...
We're looking forward to many more days like this one!
Happy Memorial Day! Hello, Summer!

It's a Luau!
We spent the day celebrating the cutest, sweetest (almost) 8 year old around!
Every Memorial Day weekend, my family gathers to celebrate Aubrey's birthday. Aubrey is my great niece, and I love her like one of my own children. I spent a lot of time with Aubrey during her baby/toddler years, and she spent a lot of time at our house last year. She is so beautiful and incredibly sweet, and I just adore her. We all do!
It was a beautiful day for a Luau!
Even Liam dressed the part!
The slip and slide kept the kids cool and occupied.
There was delicious food and an ice cream cake!
Aubrey eagerly opened all her gifts and seemed happy with each one!
After cake and presents, it was time to bring out the pinata!
After all the pinata fun, the boys invented a fun new use for the pinata rope! Thankfully, no visits to the ER occurred.
We talked and played the day away.
It was a perfect day, and Dylan, Lexie, Lily, and Liam's smiles said it all!
The sun went down, and the party came to an end. Dylan went home with my sister and her family for a sleepover, and Lexie gathered her stuff for a sleepover with Aubrey. We had a great day with some of the people we love the most!
Happy 8th Birthday, Aubrey! We love you so much!!!
