Halloween Fun

The past 2 weeks were filled with fun Halloween activities!  In addition to going to the pumpkin patch, we had a Halloween-themed Playdate, went to ZooBoo, went Trick or Treating at our local high school, and went to a Halloween Party at the library.

First up, we had a Halloween Playdate with a few of my favorite little kids.  Amy did a great job organizing the playdate and hosting our crazy crew!  The kids played, had a ghost hunt for treats in the backyard, played with silly string, decorated their own sugar cookies, made spiders, and celebrated Logan's 5th Birthday!

A few days later, we went to the Pumpkin Patch, but I already covered that!

Moving on to ZooBoo at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. We went on Saturday, but Grant is swamped at work, so he decided to go to work.  I didn't want the kids to miss it, so I attempted it alone.  It was very crowded, but once again, it went well!  We met up with some friends who were there at the same time.  We briefly saw Tracy and her family right after we arrived, then they went ahead of us.  We walked through most of the zoo with Steph and her family, and split up near the  end.

Liam slept most of the time, and there was an incident with a goat eating Lily's braid. I thought her hair was just matted with goat spit, but the next day, a huge clump of hair came out when I took out her braid! Poor kid!

The kids got candy, got their faces painted, posed with princesses, and played with their friends.  We said goodbye to Steph and her family, and headed over to the two haunted houses.  My kids love them.  They are a hit every year we go!  Awesome animated things, scary scenes, a fog machine, a bubble blower, smoke filled bubbles to pop, and werewolves on chains.  How much cooler can it get?!?

Even though it took us an hour to get out of the zoo, it was absolutely worth it!

On Monday, we went Trick or Treating at our high school with my friend, Amber, and her son, Jack.  We go every year!  The high school students do such a great job!  Each room has a theme, and the kids get a ton of candy as they trick or treat through the high school.  This year, Dylan was over the age limit, and couldn't come.  We really missed him, and I think he was bummed, too.  Once again, Liam slept through most of it!

Despite a rough start involving an angry toddler who was bummed that her favorite Elsa costume was dirty, we had fun.  We got through the school quickly, and the kids got a lot of candy!

Yesterday, I took Lily and Liam to the library Halloween Party.  We stayed long enough for Lily to paint a pumpkin and eat a cookie!

Tonight, we're carving our family pumpkin, and tomorrow is Halloween!  Trick or Treating AND a Halloween Party at our house! Dylan, Lexie, and Lily are so excited!

Pumpkins in the Patch

On October 19th, we decided to take advantage of the sunny Fall day, and go to the Pumpkin Patch!

We met up with Amber, Rex, Audrey, and Jack, and waited in line for the the hayride with them.

Luckily, we didn't have to wait long.  We got free apples as we boarded the wagon, and enjoyed them on the bumpy ride up to the patch!

When we got to the top, the kids wanted to go through the big corn maze first!

After they raced through it a few times, we headed into the pumpkin patch.

We found our perfect family pumpkin!  At nearly 32 pounds, it was over double Liam's weight!

Before long, it was time to get back in line to ride the hayride back down to the farm.

We got back on the wagon, and waved to our friend, Steph, and her family, as our wagons crossed paths!

We attempted to recreate this picture from last year:

He wasn't as cooperative this year, although he's still one of the smallest pumpkins in the patch!

When we got back to the farm, we let the kids play in the straw playground.  I swear, we just need to fill our yard with bales of hay.  Cheap, and they have so much fun!

Before leaving, we took the kids pictures in front of the Shenot's Farm sign.  They are growing so quickly!
