Day Two of our vacation started bright and early!
The girls and I relaxed on the balcony, enjoying the view!
We celebrated our friend, Amber's birthday, with a dozen delicious donuts from The Fractured Prune. They were quickly eaten!
Unfortunately, Lily's fever was very high, so we stayed in the condo until the afternoon. It was ridiculously hot outside, hovering just above the 100 degree mark.
The kids were very eager to go down to the beach to swim and play and the sand. They took off running when we made it outside!
I had given Lily some medicine, so her fever was down a bit, but she was not feeling happy at all!
Lily and I stayed on the blanket, under the umbrella, while everybody else went swimming and played in the sand. She relaxed enough to fall asleep for a bit.
Grant is a fish when it comes to swimming, so he was taking Dylan way out into the waves. I'm a worrier and I insisted that Dylan wear a swimming vest, even though he can swim.
Lexie started to get jealous, and sat in the waves, crying "Daddy!" over and over again!
I passed Lily off to the birthday girl and then to Grant, so I could help the kids bury each other in the sand!
We spent several hours on the beach, and didn't go in until early evening!
That evening, we went to an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet to celebrate Amber's birthday! Amber and Grant are seafood fanatics, and ate close to 100 crab legs! Thankfully, Amber's husband, Rex, stepped in to help with Lily so I could eat my food!
After dinner, we headed to the Ocean City boardwalk to look around. The kids were mesmerized by the stores, the crowds, the entertainers, and the rides. It was so hot, though. At 10:30 at night, it was still 98 degrees! I had Lily strapped to me in the baby bjorn, and I just may have lost my temper a few times!
The sand art was amazing!
The kids went into a hurricane tube and had a huge crowd gathered around them!
The best part of the evening was the haunted house ride. Lexie insisted on riding it, even though I knew she'd be scared! I hate haunted houses, and I'm not afraid to admit that I'm scared of the dark, so I was not thrilled to be going on the ride with her!
Everybody was all smiles before we went in (only 2 people at a time!).
She had no idea...
Within seconds of the ride starting, a huge rat fell from the dark ceiling, and Lexie was done.
She slithered down as far as she could go, and hid her face! I have to admit, I laughed the entire time, as Lexie kept saying how scared she was, and how much she hated the ride. I don't blame her for being scared. I was scared!
By the time the ride ended, it was very late, and still very hot, so we decided to head back to the condo.
The kids fell asleep quickly!
We stayed up very late, sitting outside on the balcony. When I went to bed around 1 AM, it was still 95 degrees outside!
After such a busy day, we all slept really well!
Looks like a fun vacation day!! I'm sorry Lily didn't feel good:( hope she feels better
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun! I hope your baby girl is much better!
ReplyDeletePoor Lily, it is no fun to be sick on vacation :( It looks like the big kids had a blast. Lexie cracks me up on that haunted ride.
ReplyDeleteThose are some awesome sand creations.
ReplyDeletePoor Lily looked miserable. I can't imagine having a clingy baby when it was so hot out!
What a fun time! My kiddos love to get buried in the sand too.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute picture of you and Lily. Poor Lexie with the ride...haha, cute pictures of her though. =)
ReplyDeletePoor Lily for being so sick on vacation :( And poor Lexie for being so upset!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are awesome!
What vivid pictures. The beach is the best backdrop.
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how homesick this makes me! We used to go to Ocean City about every summer when I was a kid. I miss it so much! I'm so sorry your little girl had to have a fever during your vacation, that's so sad! But that's great the others got to still have some fun. You're such a good mommy!
