Our time at the beach came to an end too quickly. It always does.
On our final day of vacation, Lily woke up fever free. Of course. When I undressed her, I noticed the red, lacy rash that covered her body. Roseola! That explained the fever!
It stormed all through the night, and the storm was still going early that morning. Amber and I got everything packed up and loaded onto the luggage carts, while everybody slept.
One of the things I had wanted to do at the beach was take beach portraits. Unfortunately, that didn't work out, due to Lily being so sick.
The kids wanted to say goodbye to the ocean, so I took my camera along. It wasn't what I would call a shoot. I only had a 15 minute time frame,
Lexie was tired, and Lily was still feeling sick. However, the rain had
stopped and the sky had brightened up a bit. It wasn't perfect, but I did capture a few cute shots!
Just keeping it real...because this picture sums up Lily's experience!
I snapped as many pictures as I could in just one minute. It's difficult to get a good shot of a sick baby, a cranky 5 year old drama queen, and a boy that wants to jump in the ocean!
The big kids ran off, leaving Lily behind. For the first time on our vacation, Lily felt well enough to sit in the sand and take in the view.
The kids said their goodbyes to the ocean. I think it's safe to say that they love the ocean as much as we do! I teared up watching them. They were so sad to leave!
Grant and Jack waved us in from the 19th floor of the building we stayed in, so we knew it was time to leave.
Reluctantly, we headed back. I think we would all be content to live near the ocean. Maybe someday.
Once in the condo, we gathered the rest of our stuff, and stepped onto the balcony one last time.
I did get sentimental as we were leaving. I tried to absorb it all, until we return again. I had to force myself to leave that balcony, and leave that view behind.
We had a memorable vacation. The expressions on Dylan and Lexie's faces when they went in the ocean for the first time will never be forgotten. We had a great time with our dear friends. They are like family to us. Even though Lily was sick, it was our first vacation as a family of five, and I wouldn't change anything. Lily spent a lot of time in my arms. It may have been stressful at times, but I will be missing my tiny, cuddly baby the next time we go to the beach. Next year, she will be running alongside her big siblings!
Time is fleeting. I'm so thankful I captured so many pictures to remember those moments forever.
It was so difficult to leave that all behind.
Glad you had a wonderful vacation! Hopefully, you can go back next year!!

ReplyDeleteTears! So pretty! I love the one of Lily standing in the sand! XO
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous. So sad to hear you had sick babies. That makes it so hard. Having grown up on the beach in FL it is a vacation MUST every year. There is nothing like the waves, salty air and soft sand! I will definitely be retiring somewhere where I can track sand in every. single. day! :-)
ReplyDeleteDoing a photo shoot with 3 kids is just hard. However, you did capture some great shots!
ReplyDeleteLove you guys!
