9 weeks

DATE: January 3, 2011

How far along:
9 weeks

Total Weight Gained:
I'm guessing none. Even though my belly is still bloated, my jeans are falling off my hips.

How big is baby? About the size of a large grape.

How baby is growing: By now, most of the aspects of your baby's physical structure, such as head, arms, legs, and torso are in place. If you were to peek in on your little one, you'd find they resemble a miniature human being (one with a very large head!). Because your baby's organs and limbs are forming, in the next few weeks, your baby will be putting on weight. Your baby's tail should have disappeared by now, and your baby's organs and muscles should be functioning on their own. At 9 weeks pregnant, your baby's eyelids will fuse shut and won't open up again until your baby is about 27 weeks along. Your baby's face is becoming more distinct every day, with the mouth, nose and nostrils becoming clearly visible. Your baby's heart should have divided into four separate chambers now.

Maternity Clothes: Not yet

Sleep: I feel like I need a nap every 2 hours! At night, I wake up at least once to use the bathroom.

Best Pregnancy Moment of the Week:
Discussing baby names and talking about the baby with my mom.

Movement
: None

Food Craving: Kosher Dill Pickles

Food Aversions:
Everything else, especially liquids.

Morning Sickness:
It got worse. Luckily, my Zofran prescription keeps me puke-free for about 8 hours, even though it doesn't take away the nausea and food aversions.

Gender:
Unknown, and probably not finding out.

Symptoms:
Nausea every waking moment, vomiting, gagging, headaches, bloating (ahem, constipation), exhaustion.

What I miss:
Food and feeling normal!

What I'm looking forward to:
The morning sickness going away (I'm hoping it doesn't last my entire pregnancy like with my other two), and feeling the baby move!

Still not much to see other than a woman who is sick and exhausted! I'm definitely not glowing yet...haggard is more like it!

  11. Not finding out the gender would be fun! And since you have one of each, you can do that. I just can't... if we're actually having a girl this time, I'd love to buy a bunch of girly things. If we're having a boy, we better start picking out a name!

  17. Came across your blog on Miss Paige's. I think it is adorable. I'm 8weeks pregnant so we are running this race together. I too have the constant nausea and love the zofran!! I am already showing though and it is miserable. My Ob-gyn said this would happen since it's my fourth child. Good luck!!
