I went to the doctor this afternoon for my monthly checkup. The doctor wasn't certain that we'd be able to hear the heartbeat, since I'm only 10 weeks, but we heard it, loud and clear!!! Little Nugget has a strong heartbeat! It was the most beautiful sound, and I admit that I choked up when I heard it! Grant was so excited...I'm so happy he was able to make it to the appointment!
Hearing that heartbeat makes all the weeks of nausea and vomiting worth it!
DATE: January 10, 2011
How far along: 10 weeks
Total Weight Gained: None.
How big is baby? About the size of a kumquat. Baby is about 1 1/4 inches long.
How baby is growing: Your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function. Tiny nails are forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair is beginning to grow on tender skin. Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord.
Maternity Clothes: No-my pants are still loose on me.
Best Pregnancy Moment of the Week: Hearing the heartbeat!
Movement: Not certain yet, but I know I'll be feeling the baby move soon!
Food Craving: Sour watermelon gummies.
Food Aversions: Everything else, especially drinks.
Morning Sickness: Getting worse. I got another prescription for Zofran.
Gender: Unknown, and not finding out!
Symptoms: Nausea morning to night, gagging, vomiting, crying, and stomachaches (thanks to ahem, constipation).
What I miss: Eating!
What I'm looking forward to: Feeling the baby move, and the morning sickness (hopefully) going away!
I'm starting to get a little belly. A lot of it is still due to bloat, because it increases and decreases in size throughout the day.
I can't forget my first babies! Some pictures from today...
Riding the dog:
Relaxing and chowing down after school:
Now wait a minute...did I know you were pregnant? Did I miss this? Holy Cow, that's such wonderful news! I am so excited! I remember my first appointment was at 10 weeks with Gillian Grace and that's the first time we heard the heartbeat as well. Music to my ears! Again soooo excited! I am looking forward to following along on this journey!
