We spent a very long day at the hospital. I went to bed at midnight, and was up at 5:00. My sisters and I got to the hospital before 7, and didn't get home until after 5. We are all exhausted after a long day of waiting.
My dad had surgery on his carotid arteries this morning. It initially went well, but he suffered a mini stroke and had really low blood pressure while in recovery, so he had to go to the ICU. It was so difficult to see him after the surgery. He was completely miserable, and the incision in his neck is from his ear to the middle of his throat. His mobility is coming back, but they are going to continue to monitor him because of his heart condition.
Right now, he's not feeling up to having the bypass done this week. He will spend a day or two in the hospital, then come home to recover. The bypass will most likely be scheduled for next week. I honestly can't wait until this is all over. Today was very difficult, and I know that next week will be even worse. I just want him to feel better!
Grant did a great job as Mr. Mom today. I offered to switch roles with him for a while! ;) I am officially 13 weeks today, but my pregnancy post is going to have to wait until tomorrow. I need to get some sleep first!
I really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers sent his way!
Hey, it's such a blessing to hear that your dad is well. I mean, well enough. I know, first hand, how surgery can take the best of you. I'm glad that he has all his children BY HIS SIDE thru all of this. He wouldn't want it any other way. God bless him, and your family!

ReplyDeleteOh gosh, my heart goes out to you and your entire family! I know how difficult it can be to see a loved on in the hospital. I will never forget seeing my dad hooked up to all those gadgets and gizmos when he had a triple by pass during my junior year of HS. So helpless...
