I've been asked several times if we were trying to get pregnant, and the answer is yes! This is our first 100% planned baby!
Dylan was not planned, but he was exactly what we needed in our lives at that time! Lexie was a one-try deal. We were not planning on trying for a second baby for several more months, but Grant convinced me to try just one day (Father's Day...ha!), and it worked! We had planned on TTC our third child in the Fall of 2009, but after a rough year with Lexie's health issues, we postponed it.
After our rough patch this summer, Grant and I worked our butts off to reconnect. In late September, Grant brought up the idea of having our third baby, but I wasn't quite open to the idea just yet.
One afternoon, shortly after that, I was taking a nap with Lexie. My eyes kept popping open to stare at a picture hanging on Grant's wall. It was a picture of our family that Dylan drew for him. Something was missing from that picture.
Then, it hit me! Another child! It was at that moment that I realized I wanted another baby. In early October, we decided it was time to TTC!
About a week before Halloween, I had all the pregnancy symptoms. I took a pregnancy test on Halloween morning, 5 days before my missed period, and it came back positive. We were so excited, but the next day, I began bleeding. The bleeding lasted less than 24 hours. A few days later, I took another test and it came back negative. We were so disappointed, and unsure of what happened. The doctor later said it was either a defective test combined with an early (and unusually short) period, or a very early miscarriage. We decided we would keep TTC.
On the morning of December 2nd, which would have been my Grandma's 90th birthday, I woke up early, and I just knew. I had been feeling sick for about a week, and it was time to test. The positive result was immediate! I left a note on the bathroom sink for Grant to find when he woke up. "Dear Daddy, I can't wait to meet you! August 8th, 2011."
We were both so thrilled! Grant immediately began to call the baby Nugget, and the rest is history!
Now for the daily dose of my other babies:
I can't wait to see if Nugget is going to join Team Pink or Team Blue!
I'm so happy for you.

ReplyDeleteSo happy for you both! I think it is kind of rude for people to ask if this baby was planned or not? Does it really matter? Some people are so nosy! Wishing you and you family all the best!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you have the patience to wait to find out! The suspense would kill me! lol Congrats again!
ReplyDeleteGreat Story Stef! Nugget and Sesame Seed will be here before we both know it :)

ReplyDeleteSuch a great story! We have not planned 100% for any of our 3 kids either. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen are you finding out the gender?
Well congrats again! I'm not sure I understand the concept of trying to get pregnant. LOL! Our first one was planned, the other two...BIG surprises. LOL!
ReplyDeleteNugget is a cute nickname. Fred didn't like any of the ones I picked out. And that is why poor Colin was known as baby#3 for 8 months! :)
I loved that story. It put a tear in my eye.
ReplyDeleteLove your story! I am so happy for you all!
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful!!! I am so exited for you and your family. And Nugget is perfect. :)
