Five Question Friday

We went to Grant's Christmas party tonight. It was fun, but awkward, since I don't know many people he works with. It was held at a nearby restaurant. They actually closed down the entire restaurant for his company party. Unfortunately, it's a Mexican restaurant that I can't stand. ;) He's actually still there! I left him in the capable hands of a good friend, and picked up my kiddos. Dylan is actually passed out against my shoulder as I type this! My parents picked up the kids before the party, so I had two, glorious hours to do whatever I wanted. I chose a nap. A completely quiet, one hour nap never happens for me, so it was heavenly!

My Little Life

I'm joining Mama M in Five Question Friday today!

1. Does Santa wrap the presents he leaves at your house? Yes, he does. I always have to remember to get different wrapping paper and gift tags for the Santa gifts. Dylan's starting to catch on to things!

2. When is your "big" Christmas celebration...Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? Tell us about it...
We celebrate both days. On Christmas Eve, we go to two of my sibling's houses, and finish out the night at Grant's Nannie's house. We always stay there until midnight, then head home. We open presents in the morning, then my parents come over for brunch, then we go open gifts at the inlaws, then to dinner at Grant's grandma's house, back to one of my sibling's houses, and then back to Nannie's house. Yes, we drive around all day, both days! It's hectic, but I love seeing everybody, and I know it won't be like this forever.

3.
Are you big on keeping tradition every year? Yes! We always take treats to our horse on Christmas Eve, before all the fun begins. That night, we give the kids new Christmas pajamas to unwrap and wear. We always sprinkle "reindeer food" in the yard before bed on Christmas Eve.

4.
Do colored lights or white lights tickle your fancy?
I love both. We have colored LED lights on our tree, and I hate them. I honestly hate LED lights, but Grant loves them. I much prefer the soft glow of traditional lights.

5.
Do you decorate outside your house for Christmas?
Yes. Unfortunately, the strong winds on Wednesday tore some decorations down, and now we have to redecorate. We have clear, icicle lights around the house, a huge star on the side of the house, a strand of clear lights on our light pole, and 3 mini Christmas trees around that pole. We have a bunch more, but have yet to put them out. Now I'm glad, because they would have blown away this week!

  2. I love the tradition of PJ's on Christmas Eve. We also did that and now I'm doing it with Aidyn.
I'm a big fan of the soft glow of the traditional lights as well. They're so pretty.

  4. Great traditions. We have white LED (which is actually blue!) lights on our house and I prefer the traditional white lights as well. I guess I can't really complain though, because I don't brave the cold and the roof to put them out there!!

  5. Oh man! Having the party at a restaraunt you don't like bites! But I agree that the extra time to yourself is wonderful too.
Lovely Christmas traditions! I have no LED lights, and now I am not sure I want any after reading that. I am sitting by the tree right now, and I love the soft glow as well.
P.J's on Christmas Eve? Sounds wonderfuL! The boys each got new pj's as part of their present. Maybe I'll get hubs and I a pair as well so we can do it that night too!
