Fab {Target} Finds Friday

Parenting and Lifestyle Blog

Happy Friday! I'm so glad it's Friday, and I'm really looking forward to the weekend thanks to having an extra day "off." The return to reality after the holidays was rough, so the three day break is much needed!

I've been participating in Friday Favorites for years, but this year, I'm starting something new: Fab Finds Friday. Here, I'll be sharing my favorite finds from stores, websites, and small shops. It probably won't be every single week, but I'm aiming for twice a month!

I usually stop at Target each week to pick up the little extras (cleaning supplies, pet items, healthcare and beauty items, etc). I also hoard gift cards I receive to Target, and use them to pick up items as I see them. Over the past two weeks, I found some great clearance deals, and some cute seasonal items in the Target Dollar Spot, and decided to share them with you for my first Fab Finds Friday!

Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites - Mom Blog / Pittsburgh Blog / Baby Blog / Down syndrome Blog / Big Family Blog

Happy Friday! It has been a long time since I shared a few of my favorite things. Life got in the way of blogging - having a baby and adjusting to having five kids will do that. BUT...I figured it was time to get back into posting my favorites regularly!

Life lately has been very busy. Our Summer Break just started, but it doesn't feel much like a break at all. We're in the midst of dance recital week, and it's all we can think about right now! Next week should be a bit more calm!

I discovered so many new favorites over the past few weeks. Some are for me, some are for my kids. I'm taking advantage of the quiet time in my house (AKA the middle of the night), to list my favorites for all of you!

It's Almost Fall Friday Favorites

It's Almost Fall!!! Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, my friends! The official start of Fall is just over two weeks away, but it doesn't feel much like it right now. We had temperatures over 90 degrees most days this week, and I just might be wishing away Summer for the first time ever! I am ready to decorate, embrace the upcoming holiday season, and put on some cozy clothes!

Although I can't fully get in the Fall spirit just yet, I've been sneaking in a few favorites, both old and new, over the past few days. I might still be wearing Summer clothes, but it sure is starting to look and smell like Fall in my home! It has been a few weeks since I last shared a Friday Favorites, so I figured I would share a few of my Fall Favorites today!

I'm keeping this week's Friday Favorites short and sweet, and sharing 5 awesome things that we are currently loving!

A few fun things made my love list this week! Some were sent to me for review, and I quickly fell in love, and others were fun finds while I was shopping. Here are six of my current Summer Favorites:

Friday Favorites: Five Things I'm Currently Loving

Friday Favorites: Five Things I'm Currently Loving

Happy Friday, my friends! Life is super busy right now, which is why I'm writing this post at 3 AM. I had some HUGE collaborations to work on this week, and Liam had his June summer session of preschool, so there wasn't much time left over for anything else! All I can say is TGIF!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! It has been a while since I posted a Friday Favorites roundup, so I figured it was a good time to post one. Every so often it's good to take a step back from content-based blogging and just share a fun, carefree post that doesn't take much thought! So here are a few awesome things that are on my love list right now...

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, my friends!

It has been a while since I shared a few of my favorite things!  I have the best intentions, but life just gets in the way sometimes. Two weeks ago, it was a broken wrist, last week it was what felt like a million appointments, and this week was the flu.

That's right, the flu. It took Grant, Dylan and I down for a few days. Well, they are still down. I woke up with it on Wednesday and could barely function, but I bounced back much more quickly than my husband and son. Despite the lingering congestion and tiredness, I felt somewhat normal tonight. Poor Dylan, however, is currently fighting off a 105 degree fever. It came down with medication, but this mama won't be sleeping tonight!

Without further ado, here are a few things that I'm loving this week:

Friday Favorites

{Spring Style}

The colors and the trends...I'm loving it all! Warm, sunny weather just makes me so happy.  I shopped for Spring clothes over the past few weeks and I can't wait to share them all in an upcoming Mom Style post!

DSC_0035

(I found this adorable top at TJ Maxx. They have so many cute tops this Spring!)

{Mug Love. And a cute bunny.}

My mug collection is out of control, but I can't help adding to it. I'm a sucker for holiday mugs, and my favorites come from TJ Maxx, too! This one was from last year, but they had a bunch of similar ones this year.

And the bunny!!! If you followed along on our bunny raising journey, you know that we ended up keeping 2 of the 7 babies. The other five are happily adjusting to their new homes. I'll recap that journey soon enough, but this one is all mine. Her name is Elle, and I didn't think she was going to make it for the first two weeks of her life. She was a fighter and took to following me around the house, so I had no choice but to keep her!

{EZPZ Play Mat}

This thing is AMAZING. If you don't have the EZPZ Play Mat, put it on your list of things to buy if you have kids! It seriously gets used every day. If you missed my post showcasing all the fun things we use it for, you can read it HERE. (And while you're at it, grab some Squigz!)

{Easter Socks}

Is anybody else obsessed with holiday socks? I have been since I was a kid! Now that I have my own kids, I scoop up the holiday socks from the Target Dollar Spot as soon as I spot them!

{Birthday Gifts}

My dear friend, Rich, gave me the sweetest gift for my birthday! He always manages to find things that I don't have and I end up loving everything. Sure enough, I loved these Alex and Ani charm bracelets and the Younique Lucrative Lip Gloss. (That convenient mirror attached to the side of the tube? GENIUS!)

DSC_0162

{LuLaRoe}

So I'm completely new to the LulaRoe craze, but the leggings sure are comfortable! Liana sent me the sweetest package. Feature coming soon, but for now you can visit her on Instagram!

{Currently Reading}

I am loving Orphan Train! It was highly recommended, but I kept putting off reading it. It took me a while to really get started, and now I'm having a hard time putting it down! (And there's that cute bunny again and my newest Easter mug from TJ Maxx!)

DSC_0023

{Ipad Accessories}

Even though I told Grant I didn't want any gifts from him for my birthday since I need a new camera, he insisted. My Apple-hating husband even did his research and found this amazing wireless keyboard case for my ipad pro! He hopes that I will use it more often now that it's similar to a laptop. (He was right!) He also gets bonus points for getting it in one of my favorite colors: rose gold!

{Daily Dose of Joy}

Last, but definitely not least, everybody could use a little bit of joy in their life! This kid has plenty to give!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! What's on your agenda?

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday from a once again wintry Pittsburgh!

After weeks of unseasonably warm temperatures and continuous rain, winter made its comeback. I hate the cold weather, but I'm kind of relieved. It will be nice to get a break from the rain!

I may not be a big fan of rain or snow or cold weather, but there is plenty to love this week!

FRIDAY FAVORITES

{ONE}

My adorable sidekick! Seriously. Could he get any cuter?!? It's hard to feel negative about anything with this kid around!

Mom Style Tip: If you're looking for leggings, check TJ Maxx first! They have an entire rack of so many styles and colors for just $5-$7 a pair. I just might have bought fleece-lined leggings, workout leggings and faux leather leggings.

{TWO}

I don't think I've ever shared my favorite perfume! Lolita Lempicka has been my favorite for over a decade. I ran out about a year ago, so I was so excited to find a new bottle under the Christmas Tree this year!

My post about raising special needs siblings was featured on Pittsburgh Moms Blog this week.  I just signed a contract to continue blogging there, and I'm really excited about the upcoming year!

Here's an excerpt:

"A few days ago, I read a post written by a person who ‘did not feel lucky’ to have a sibling who had special needs. Being a special needs mama, that headline was like a punch in the gut. Blog titles are carefully crafted to bring in as much traffic as possible, but this one had the capability to both hurt and draw people in at the same time."

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the Target Dollar Spot. I found this fun daily chart there last week and Lily has been filling it out every day!

Dylan's birthday gift finally arrived and it's a huge hit...for all of us! Although Dylan's the pro, the rest of us have been using it, too. (Except Liam. He just likes the flashing LED lights and the bluetooth speaker!)

{SIX}

Just like so many other people, one of my goals for the year was to get more exercise, get more sleep, and live a healthier lifestyle. I don't drink a lot of coffee, but I am a tea lover. I am so excited to start the Bikini Babe Tea Detox!

Bikini Babe gifted me with the 14 Day Skinny Again Detox and the 14 Day Good Night Cleanse to get me started on the right track! The Skinny Again Detox, which is sipped every morning at breakfast, fuels weight loss, reduces bloating and speeds metabolism. The Good Night Cleanse, which you drink at bedtime every other night, improves digestion, fuels weight loss and promotes a calm, good night sleep.

I just started my "Teatox" but I will keep you posted on the results!

My incredibly talented aunt loves to make things for my kids! They are always so excited when they receive a package in the mail. This month, Liam was the lucky recipient. Even though he's a big fan of the clown, I think the dragon cocoon blanket is incredible!

My favorite lotions are from Bath & Body Works. Every Christmas, my husband buys me a bunch of my favorite holiday scents. I always stick with just Vanilla Bean Noel and Winter Candy Apple, but this year I decided to branch out and try some other seasonal scents. I should be set until next Christmas! What's your favorite?

{NINE}

I'm obviously late to the game on this one.  Liam had a cold a few weeks ago and his nose would not stop running. I finally caved and bought Boogie Wipes. I was always disgusted by the concept and I thought they would just be overpriced baby wipes, but I was so wrong! They are now a staple in my home!

And, oh, that cowlick...

What happens when you take your tween with you while searching for new winter boots? You end up with duck boots. Because apparently they are the coolest. In all fairness, they really are warm and waterproof, and that's all that matters!

15 years ago, I was embarrassed to wear similar boots at the stable, but now they're trendy.  Oh, how things change!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! What are your plans?

Friday Favorites + Moments of the Week

Happy Friday!!!

I'm having such a difficult time getting back into the swing of things following our fun holiday break! The Winter Blahs are kicking in, but I'm trying to stay positive. I'm especially excited about the three day weekend ahead of us AND the fact that we have another one next week. That should make the month of January a bit more tolerable!

We have a busy weekend ahead of us, which includes a birthday party, a basketball game, taking down Christmas (yes, a bit late) and organizing. And, of course, sleeping. I'm not ashamed to admit that's what I most look forward to on the weekend!

2017 is already off to a really busy start! I shared my goals and word of the year, and I will say that I'm doing well with some of them, but it's definitely a work in progress. I didn't expect instant change or perfection. Every step in the right direction, no matter how small, is a win. Baby steps is my method of choice!

I do have some blogging goals for 2017, and one of them is to share my favorite moments each week. The perfectly real ones, the candid ones and the ones that made me smile the most. Yes, I do have some sponsored content on my blog, but I refuse to let that content overshadow what this blog REALLY is: A journal of my life with my four kids! I thought it would be fun to combine it with my Friday Favorites, so I'll be kicking that off this week.

FRIDAY FAVORITES

{MUCH NEEDED MAMA BREAKS}

Liam headed back to school last week and I am enjoying the 2-3 relaxing afternoons each week. I'm not really alone since Lily has morning Kindergarten and is home while he's at preschool, but she's calm. I love this kid with all of my being, but he exhausts me.

That short break from my beloved toddler tornado is so refreshing and it gives me the chance to really miss him. When I pick him up, it makes my day! The grin spreads across his face the moment he spots me, he shouts mama, and he runs into my arms. The. Best. Ever.

{NEW MONTHLY LINKUP}

I am so excited to be co-hosting a monthly linkup called A Year of Color with Little Dove, Macke Monologues, and Work It Mommy. Each month will focus on one color and it's basically a free for all. A recipe, an activity for kids, favorite clothing items in that color, etc.

The monthly link up will start next Friday, January 20th and the first color will be white. (Confession: I totally just wrote Lick Up. That's what happens when you blog at 2 AM.)  Just for future reference, the color for February will be Pink and the color for March will be green. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

YearOfColor

{WINTER WEATHER?}

The weather in Pittsburgh right now is...odd.  In the span of less than two weeks, we had painfully cold weather, we had snow, we had freezing rain, we had downpours and we had 65 degree weather. Although it keeps jumping from Winter to Spring and back, I'm okay with it! It's pretty much unheard of to go days without wearing winter coats in January, but that happened!

058

{This monster hoodie is currently under $4 at Babies R Us and comes with pants. Such a great deal!}

{VALENTINES}

I hate to rush the holidays and seasons, but I couldn't pass up these adorable valentines. The Target Dollar Spot does it again!

003

{A WINTER MUST HAVE}

Liam has tiny sinuses and nasal passages, which are common in kids who have Down syndrome. He surprisingly doesn't get sick often, but when he does, he gets VERY congested. The Vicks® EasyFill Cool Mist Humidifier arrived just in time! It helps him breathe better at naptime and through the night!

*I received mine complimentary for a review from Influenster, but you can find it HERE.  #GotItFree

{BIRTHDAY LOVE}

We celebrated my dad's 77th Birthday on Friday. Here's what I shared on Instagram:

"My dad was much older when I was born, but very involved in my life. As a teenager, I was unable to recognize how lucky I was, but I do now. He was my rock...always. Most of my close friends have already lost a parent to illness and I can't even imagine the pain of living without my mom or dad.

When Dylan was born, I feared that my dad wouldn't be here to watch his grandkids grow up since he was older. But I was wrong and my kids are incredibly lucky to have a Papa who is every bit as involved in their lives as he was mine. My dad loves them fiercely and they adore him.

When Liam was born and we were faced with so much uncertainty, my parents were the first of our family to find out. As I broke the news through my tears, my mom reacted just as I had-with pure shock and tears. My dad, however, smiled and simply asked, "Where's my grandson? I want to meet him." He and Liam had the most incredible bond from that day on. That moment perfectly sums up the amazing person that he is.

Yesterday, we celebrated my dad's 77th birthday. My four kids surrounded him as they sang Happy Birthday and I captured all the sweet moments on video. I wanted to remember every detail of the night because everything felt perfect and I know time is fleeting. Later, Liam curled up on my dad's chest and fell asleep. As I looked through the pictures and videos, the tears fell down my cheeks. Some moments in life are just so perfect that they take your breath away. This was one of them."

{SNAP & SHOP}

I mentioned the awesome Snap & Shop Tray in my Friday Favorites last month. If you have young kids, this is a must have for shopping trips! This snack tray, which comes in three colors, hooks on to any cart handle and comes with a convenient lid to keep the snacks contained. I absolutely LOVE this product. I keep it in my bag at all times!

{BASKETBALL}

Dylan's basketball season started on Saturday and we are so excited to watch him play. He did so well in his first game and I captured him getting his first basket of the season! I think this kid found his sport!

{CUTENESS OVERLOAD}

That face. Those eyes. Enough said.

{SWEETEST CANDID MOMENT OF THE WEEK}

The moments when they don't realize I'm watching them are my absolute favorite!

061 copy

{BRUISER}

Lexie has so much going on right now. An allergic reaction to pine landed her in the ER. Next stop is an allergist because she apparently developed an allergy to nuts, as well! As if that wasn't enough, her eczema is out of control this winter. She topped off the past few weeks of misery by dropping a 5 lb weight on her face yesterday!

Despite the tough month, she's still dancing, she joined after school choir, she's doing really well in school, and she's still smiling!

005

{RABBIT LOVE}

Our two pet rabbits continue to be awesome pets, even though Lily constantly asks if we can get another dog. (I'm finally ready...I think.) Stay tuned for a story about our two pet rabbits...let me just say that it would only happen to us!

008

{SIBLING LOVE}

Lily and Liam are best buddies during the week. Out of all four of my kids, they are the closest in age and I love watching them grow up together. I'm really going to miss these moments when Lily is in school for full days next Fall!

002

{BI-MONTHLY SNIPS}

Liam's hair grows unbelievably fast. It seems to be a common Down syndrome trait! He has literally needed a cut every 2-3 weeks since he was 6 months old. I refused to spend money on getting his hair cut all the time, so I taught myself how to cut it. I've been cutting Dylan's hair since he was 3, but it's a bit different with Liam. Despite needing haircuts so often, he HATES sitting still for it, and it's kind of like wrestling an alligator. A booster seat, KidloLand on the iPad, marshmallows and his big sister to the rescue!

037
009

{BROTHERLY LOVE}

I gave both boys new haircuts yesterday. Liam's is much shorter, and Dylan showed me a picture and asked me to duplicate it. I think they look even more alike now that they have similar cuts than they did before! Not only do they look alike, but they have the most amazing bond!

044
016

{HAPPY WEEKEND!}

I hope you all have an amazing weekend with your loved ones!  I can't wait to spend it with this little girl (and her three siblings)!
