Fun Target Dollar Spot Finds For The Upcoming (Home)School Year

We are 3 1/2 weeks away from the first day of school, and we still haven't chosen a schooling option. It's a decision that has been taking over my thoughts every waking hour for months. Nothing feels right, and there are no good options for my family. I have absolutely no idea what to do, but that's another topic for another day!

This past school year taught me to expect ANYTHING to happen! I never expected to enroll a child in cyber school, and I never expected schools to close abruptly in March. There was no closure this past school year, and this upcoming school year is going to be unlike anything we've ever experienced. Whether we choose going to school 5 days a week, live streaming classes 5 days a week, cyber school, or homeschooling, I wanted to be prepared, so I stocked up on supplies at my go to - the Target Dollar Spot!

I wouldn't be surprised if we all ended up learning from home again at some point this school year, but if that doesn't happen, I'll still support in-school curriculum with learning activities at home. Plus, I'll be working with Coen at home in the near future, and I use a lot of items for at home therapy with Liam, so nothing will go to waste. (Remember my Target Dollar Spot busy bags? They are one of my most popular posts on here and on Pinterest, and we still use them every week!)

Fab {Target} Finds Friday

Parenting and Lifestyle Blog

Happy Friday! I'm so glad it's Friday, and I'm really looking forward to the weekend thanks to having an extra day "off." The return to reality after the holidays was rough, so the three day break is much needed!

I've been participating in Friday Favorites for years, but this year, I'm starting something new: Fab Finds Friday. Here, I'll be sharing my favorite finds from stores, websites, and small shops. It probably won't be every single week, but I'm aiming for twice a month!

I usually stop at Target each week to pick up the little extras (cleaning supplies, pet items, healthcare and beauty items, etc). I also hoard gift cards I receive to Target, and use them to pick up items as I see them. Over the past two weeks, I found some great clearance deals, and some cute seasonal items in the Target Dollar Spot, and decided to share them with you for my first Fab Finds Friday!

Favorite Things: December

Happy Friday! Can you believe it's already December and the countdown to Christmas has  begun? I certainly can't! This year FLEW by!

Yesterday was a quite a day (to put it nicely) and it kicked the Christmas spirit right out of me. I'm hoping this roundup of my current Christmas favorites does the trick!

December Favorites

SNOW!!!

Okay, so I don't actually love snow. It's pretty to look at, but I hate driving in it and I hate the cold that comes with it! But it is fun for, oh, five minutes!

We had our first snowfall of the year a few days before Thanksgiving, then it went back to 60+ degree weather. The colder weather returned today and snow flurries are in the forecast. It SHOULD snow in December, but after Christmas it can disappear until next year!!!

HOLIDAY CHEER

This sweet boy of mine is loving all the holiday decor! We're not even a quarter of the way done with our decorating so he's in for a big surprise. Christmas is so much fun when you have little ones around. They just take in everything with so much wonder and joy!

 PERSONALIZED ORNAMENTS

We get a new personalized Christmas ornament for our tree each year. I love adding to our collection! This year we got an adorable family ornament from Personal Creations! They have so many cute choices and I love how you can build a family and personalize it. I think this is our new go to for our family ornament and I love the padded storage bag that it arrives in. It's such a great addition to our collection of ornaments on our Christmas Tree!

Personal Creations sent me this ornament to help add some holiday cheer to this post!  ( Last name removed for security purposes.)

CHRISTMAS MUGS

One of the few things that I collect is coffee mugs and tea cups. My collection is a bit out of control so I have to pack away the seasonal mugs after each holiday.  I love pulling out my Christmas mugs each year and I always add one or two new ones to my collection!

How sweet is that gift basket that I received from French Toast for National French Toast Day on Monday?!? I collaborated with them in September and I was so surprised when this basket of goodies arrived in the mail! Of course, we celebrated by consuming way too much french toast!

LITTLE COSMETICS

Lily received the sweetest mess-free, no transfer pretend makeup set from Little Cosmetics! She absolutely loves it and has been carrying it around for days. You can purchase the makeup individually or purchase the products in gift sets. This set is great for OT, has lots of textures for kids who love sensory play and is the ultimate pretend play toy for a little girl!

ELF ON THE SHELF

Our elf arrived for the very first time today and Lily was SO excited! He brought the kids a North Pole Breakfast complete with little gifts. But that elf, whom she lovingly named Christopher, has some serious competition this year...

Friday Favorites

Hello, Friday! I'm so glad you're here!

My week started out a bit rough. I woke up on Monday morning feeling so nauseated. I actually pulled back my hair because I thought things were going to escalate. I had a brief moment of panic because it reminded me so much of the severe morning sickness I get when I'm pregnant.

It definitely wasn't that!  Liam ended up sleeping until 12:30 PM and when he woke up, he just wouldn't smile. That is always a clear indicator that something is wrong! I assumed he had the same thing I did judging by how he was acting and how he looked. Those eyes, though...

Thankfully, we both started feeling completely fine a few hours later, just in time to go to the funeral home to say our final goodbyes to my great uncle.

The rest of our week was very busy with very little sleep (for me), but we made it to the weekend!

Here's what I'm loving this week:

{ONE}

I love Summer! It's my absolute favorite time of the year. I definitely need to move to a state where it's warm year round! I'm also loving this sweet boy...just look at that face!!! I shared this picture on Instagram yesterday along with a bit of my heart. I will never understand how human beings can be so hateful and judgemental.

{TWO}

I have an addiction to the Target Dollar Spot! I can't go into Target without browsing through that section first. Even though school just let out a little over 2 weeks ago, all the Back to School stuff was in the Dollar Spot. I couldn't resist stocking up!

I found adorable Back To School Chalkboards for the kids to hold on the first day of school. I'm still on the hunt for one more!

I bought some dry erase learning boards and a To Do Chart for Lily.

I also bought a bunch of learning items which I plan on using for another fun project! That post will be going up on the blog next week.

{THREE}

My kids (and then some) are having so much fun with Camp Mom this Summer! Here's a sneak peek at something we did this week. It involved turning bars of Ivory soap into "clouds." I'll be sharing this idea along with our full week of activities on Tuesday morning!

{FOUR}

Have you ever heard of Watchitude? Dylan and Lexie LOVE these slap watches!  Watchitude generously sent over 2 slap watches for my big kids to wear (review coming soon). To say that they love them is an understatement! They both wear them 24/7, and now Lily is begging for one.  Here's a little glimpse of their awesomeness!

{FIVE}

I recently won an incredible giveaway! In addition to several other great prizes, I won a Newlie diaper bag. This bag has been on my wishlist for a few months and when I entered the giveaway, I never expected I would win. But I did, it's here and I LOVE it!

{SIX}

I love the fact that my kids have such big hearts! Last night, Lexie ran into the house screaming that Dylan found a baby animal in our yard. When I walked out, he had the tiniest little critter cradled in his hands. It was soaking wet from the rain and shaking from cold and fear. I told Dylan to let it go, so he sat it back down in the yard. It just sat on the ground, shaking.  It was so helpless. As a mom, this broke my heart.

Lexie, who is my nurturer, insisted that we had to save it. I gently explained that it was very young and would probably die. I swear my kid is wise beyond her years. She stared up at me and asked, "Is it better for it to die warm, dry and safe or die cold, scared and alone?" I couldn't argue against that.

So we currently have a little mouse living in a spare hamster cage. I told the kids not to get their hopes up, but wouldn't you know it? The tiny thing is warm and dry, and is eating and drinking!

So that's the end of our crazy week!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  What do you have planned?
