The Gift

Today, my Grandma would have celebrated her 90th birthday. I love her and miss her more than words can say. She was the most amazing woman!

Usually, this day is a bittersweet one. All the memories come flooding back, which is wonderful, but I find myself missing her so much.

My Grandma lived every single day to it's fullest. I decided that today, I would live life to the fullest. I would celebrate life. Her life, my life, and the lives of those around me.

I had the best day, and it started out with the arrival of the most wonderful early Christmas present. It made this day seem perfect.

It was such a simple day, but I realized just how blessed I truly am. I have never been more in love with my husband, with my kids, with my family.

The blessings were all around.

My sister totaled her car this morning. We got some more snow overnight, and the roads were really bad when she left for work. She flipped her car into a ditch filled with running water and totaled it...but she walked away. It could have been so much worse. Her car is ruined, but she is okay. Thank God. It was a blessing.

Dylan had a checkup today. He had a great time charming the doctor and the nurses! He is just 1/4 of an inch shy of being 4 feet tall, and weighed in at 42 pounds. Tall and very skinny, as usual...but he's completely healthy! That's a blessing.

I watched my nephew this morning, and the kids had so much fun together. It was nice spending time with him. Dylan and Lexie are so blessed to have cousins their age.

I spent some time chatting with a few close friends today. I am so blessed to have them.

Tonight, the kids and I attended Polar Express night at the library. My sister and nephews came along. We are so blessed to have our family.

The event was so much fun for the kids. They attended in their pajamas, read Polar Express, got bell necklaces and activity books, had cookies and punch, and sat on Santa's lap. Lexie was a bit nervous about seeing Santa, but walked right up to him, leaned against his knee, smiled up at him, and said, "Hi, Santa! I'm Lexie!" I am so blessed to have Dylan and Lexie. I love watching them enjoy life.

Such a simple day...but such a blessed life.

I celebrated my Grandma's birthday today, but more importantly, I celebrated life.

  12. What a beautiful blog Stef! I'm sure your grandma is so proud of you. The kids look so cute in thier pjs. We were going to go to the Polar Express story time at Barnes and Noble tomorrow, but I'm excited to decorate the tree when Matt gets home. It's in the Cranberry one at 6:30pm if you were interested in going again. Also, my friend just took her kids on a Polar Express ride in Ohio and said it was awesome, but tickets were sold out when we looked. I guess you have to buy them in the summer, so if you guys are interested let me know next summer and maybe we could all go. I bet the kids would love that. Take care and Happy Birthday to your gram <3
