Believe it or not, I have never made a gingerbread house. My husband hasn't, either. Every year, I glance at the kits, and then end up passing them by. This year, we decided to give it a shot!
Perhaps last night wasn't the best night to build it. Lexie sat with me, but had no interest in building it. She was more interested in tasting the icing and begging for the candy. She was incredibly convincing.
Dylan was only interested in taking pictures with my camera and stealing the gumballs. That left one exhausted mommy (not that you can tell by the dark circles under my eyes) to finish the job.
Let me just say, I think you need an art degree to decorate those things with the icing! The kids pitched in to help with the final decorations.
Even though I did most of the work, they were proud of the finished creation, and thrilled to eat the remaining candy.
Maybe next year they'll enjoy it more!
So cute! Usually my younger brother who is all of 20 comes out for Thanksgiving and does our gingerbread house with the kids. This year he didn't make it so I left the girls to decorate it themselves, they lost interest after about 10 minuts. Now we just have a little brown village with a couple of candies sprinkled around and I was going to fix it but decided it was perfect just the way it was!
ReplyDeleteI think yours looks fantastic!!
They NEVER look as good as the picture on the box! But yours looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than ours!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! Mine only wanted to eat the icing and candy too. xo
ReplyDeleteI could see Alaina trying to eat all the candy instead too. That's what she did with the cookies haha. It turned out great though. I see that our Christmas card arrived ;) See you soon.
ReplyDeleteyou house looks great. I'm gonna go out and get one! XOXO
ReplyDeletegreat job! My kids would have eaten ALL the candy :)
ReplyDeleteBe careful eating it. We bought the exact same kit this year. I don't know what it was about it, but after eating it, 3 of us have suffered through nights of agonizing stomach cramps. It's not the flu or anything because it's only happened after eating that and we're better after "it comes back out", which has also happened pretty violently! lol
ReplyDeletesuper cute job! We just made our gingerbread train and its pretty pathetic, but they had fun! LOVE the picture of you with your two, precious kiddos...great photo!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out terrific! I've always wanted to make one of these. And actually hoped to do it with my entire second grade class before I stopped teaching. Now I'll just have to make one with GG when she's a tad older!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Very cute!! We'll do ours on Christmas...or we'll just eat all the candy and frosting and call it a day. =) Either way.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! The house looks amazing. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! We did one last year and it looked horrible! lol Yours looks much better! Merry Christmas!!

ReplyDeleteIt turned out so cute! I think my boys favorite part about gingerbread houses is getting to eat the candy too:)
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me! I've never made one, but my SIL does it with her boys every year.
ReplyDeleteIt still turned out wonderful. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!
