Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday, a fun blog carnival, created by MckMama. I've been out of commission for 3 days, thanks to a nasty cold/flu bug that I caught. I'm still a bit woozy, so I hope this is readable!

When I was resting on the couch this morning, Lexie did not wipe something that was on her finger, onto my lips. When I tasted the saltiness of it, and asked her what it was, she did not reply, "My nose, " and flash me a cute smile. My baby girl SO DID NOT feed me her snot.

I did not attempt my usual 3 miles on the treadmill this week, after taking a month long hiatus. I was not panting after 1 1/2 miles. I did not catch said sickness above, causing my 2 day workout streak to end.

When my parents stopped by to pick up Dylan, to take him somewhere, I did not bribe my angry daughter to come back inside, with the promise of cotton candy. I was not bummed out when my bag of cotton candy was gone.

I did not let my kids dip organic animal crackers into a tub of icing, because I was too weak to make them a proper lunch, and they were truly enjoying it!

I am not cursing McDonald's for handing out the Kidz Bop CD's in their happy meals. I have not listened to the "Superman" song 5000 times. It does not get played on repeat in the car. My kids do not know every word to the song.

I did not "trip" on cold medicine last night. The fan in my room *was* really a helicopter, and the room *was* spinning. I am not adding this current medicine to the list of medicines I can't take, because I'm a lightweight.

Dylan did not hit a line drive into my uterus. Husband did not laugh at me. I did not briefly wish it was Husband's man parts that had been hit. (Love ya, honey!) D has not been banned from using his real bat and baseball around the house, due to the fact that he hits entirely too hard for a kid his age. Our siding shows the proof of that. Thankfully, not the windows. Yet.

When a mom is sick...

When did a fever, body aches, and head congestion ever stop a mom?

When a mom is sick, she still:

1. Pitches balls for her son to hit because he is obsessed with baseball, even though she can barely stand up.

2. Cooks for her family. Even if it's soup and macaroni and cheese, it still counts as cooking.

3. Bathes her kids and puts them to bed.

4. Goes grocery shopping, because the fridge is looking empty.

5. Crawls into a crib to comfort her feverish daughter to sleep. Gets heel caught on crib railing on the way out, and ends up in a standing split. (The moment where her daughter laced her fingers through hers and stared into her eyes is the moment that she'll remember forever.)

6. Plays 560,000 games of Memory. Or at least it seems that way. Even if she keeps picking the same two cards over and over and her 4 year old ends up with a towering stack of cards.

7. Plays Shrek Operation even if she can barely control the little tweezers, because she's so woozy.

8. Changes diapers, changes dirty clothes, wipes up messes........

9. Reads lots of books to her kids, even when the words blur together.

10. When the moment comes when she starts to feel a little bit better, she ends up doing the dishes piled up in the sink and cleaning the kids rooms, only to realize that she wasn't quite up to that challenge yet. And ends up with a migraine.

Or am I the only crazy mom?

On my behalf, I have been spending a lot of time on the couch. I even let the dishes pile up for two days and the groceries sit on the counter overnight. I managed to finish a fun book. But my world doesn't stop when I'm sick. Perhaps that's why I always end up getting sicker than my kids?

Good news

We got the results of Lexie's current pancreatic elastase test today. The good news is that we don't have to pursue Cystic Fibrosis testing anymore! Phew! That's a huge relief!!!

The bad news is, we still have no idea why Lexie has had diarrhea every day for almost 6 months. She has an appointment in early July with her Gastroenterologist , and will probably have a few more tests done. If we don't get answers after that appointment, we are switching to a new practice, because this has gone on long enough!

Poor Lexie can't take it anymore.

A little bit of sugar and a whole lotta flour

I am always trying to figure out something fun to do with the kids. One of their favorite things to do is "bake". I sit them down at the table with bowls, measuring spoons, and funnels. I put a few spoons of flour and sugar in their bowls, and give them some sprinkles and chocolate milk mix for some color.

It's a bit messy, but it really keeps them occupied for a long time. It keeps them happy and quiet for up to an hour! To me, that's worth it!

BunBun is involved in everything Lexie does. Including "baking". Anybody want a sniff of BunBun? ;)

Luckily, my OCD daughter (Ha! Wonder where she got that from?) loves to wipe up messes and my son loves to use the dust buster and swiffer, so clean up is not too bad!

Happy "baking"!

Of Spiders and Pre-K

It seems like I have a stalker. As in, the spider that I saved last night, that prompted my spider post below.

Same spider, same time, same place. Tonight. Last night, I nearly stepped on it, as it tried to make it's way up the garage steps, and into the kitchen. Tonight, I saw it come into the kitchen, from those same steps. I swear, it's the same spider. It's either ticked off that I kicked it out of my house, or it told all of it's spidey friends to come find me. Our garage door was open for hours today. I'm not making that same mistake again!

I saved it again...but if I see it tomorrow...I may have to abandon my spider saving tendencies, because that's just freaky.

-----------------------------

I received Dylan's information packet in the mail today, from his school. I can't believe he's going to be starting Pre-K in the fall. All of this info suddenly made it seem very well.

Health forms, medical releases, volunteer sheets, tuition bill, parents handbook, class schedule...it's so strange!

I know he has to go. But I'm not ready!!! I've loved the past 4 years that I've had him at home with me, and going to Pre-K is a huge step to him growing up (and away from me). I know many parents that are thrilled when their kid starts school. I'm just not one of them. The thing is, I know Dylan is going to love it.

How did you feel when your child started school? If your child will be starting in the fall, how do you feel about it?

-----------------------------

I'm off to actually look at the information that came in the mail, rather than pretend I didn't see it. Hopefully I don't cross paths with the stalker spider again. For now, I will continue brushing off the fake spiders that I keep thinking are crawling up my leg. Freaked out much? Nah, not me.

The Spider Saver

I will not lie. Spiders creep. me. out.

*Spider picture has been removed! Couldn't take it anymore!*

The bigger they are, the more their creepy factor goes up.

But I can't kill them. I can't even kill a fly. I just don't have it in me.

I shudder at the sight of one, and move away as quickly as possible. I shriek "like a girl" when I see one in my house. Then, I collect a cup and a piece of paper, and coax the offender into the cup, all the while threatening it if it so happens to touch me. As soon as I have it captured, I run screaming through the house, and toss the cup out the door, as far as it will go.

All that for a nasty spider that would love to bite me if given the chance. That probably crawls all over me while I sleep. Yuck.

Hello. My name is Stefanie, and I save spiders.

What the heck is wrong with me?

Not Me! Monday

After taking a few weeks off, I am more than ready to write this Not Me! Monday post. Visit MckMama's blog for more Not Me! Monday posts!

I did not walk into the bathroom to find Dylan putting my deodorant on, because he wanted his arm pits to smell pretty.

It's not me who is cutting a half inch off my hair every few days, hoping to ease into my upcoming shorter haircut!

When I asked Lexie what letter I had just written on a piece of paper, she did not proudly announce, "Purple!"

I did not vomit just a little bit in my mouth upon overhearing my mom and her best friend talking about how women aren't cleaning their "innerds" properly. My sister's mother in law did not turn to me and ask me if they were talking about roasting chicken, causing me to fall out of my chair laughing. My sisters and I did not joke about cleaning our "innerds" the rest of the day.

My mom did not drop olives on the floor, then walk away, telling me to clean up after her. My sister did not start laughing at me. I did not turn around and whip said olives at her head.

It wasn't me who whooped my mom's butt in Rum this week. I did not score almost 1000 points more than her because she wouldn't give up.

I did not make my dad stop at the outlet mall on our way back from a day trip. I did not need a shopping fix in the middle of a long drive. He did not oblige, just because he can't say no to me. ;)

The dessert table at the memorial day picnic? I did not hit it up 4 times.

Ahhh...it feels good to be back!

Memorial Day in Pictures

Our Memorial Days have been the same every year. We always go to Nannie's (Grant's Grandma) house for a picnic. My Great Niece, Aubrey, has a birthday on the 27th, so for the past 3 years, we've gone to her birthday party on Memorial Day, as well.

Of course, I took many pictures to document the day. Me, take too many pictures? Noooooo.

We started out the day celebrating Aubrey's 3rd Birthday. Isn't she the sweetest?
Aubrey is 9 months older than Lexie. They are the only girls in a big group of young boy cousins.
Lexie enjoyed a piece of cake (make that icing) with my mom.
Happy 3rd Birthday, Aubs!!!
We had a great time with my family, at Aubrey's party. I really didn't want to leave. My niece Michelle, and Aubrey, live a few hours away now, so I don't get to see them as much. Lexie had some fun "girl" time with Aubrey, and Dylan ran around with his three cousins. He was there, despite the lack of pictures of him!

Lexie fell asleep on our way to Nannie's picnic. We pitched the Pack and Play in the backyard at Nannie's, and let her sleep. She woke up at 7 (EEEK!) and was in the best mood. She was just so adorable! Dylan spent the afternoon/evening wowing the crowd with his mad baseball skills, and playing other sports and games.

Lexie snuggling with Daddy after she woke up.
Lexie couldn't keep her hands (bad girl!) off Nannie's camaro. Yes, 84 1/2 year old Nannie drives a camaro. And is getting a brand spanking new one.
Uh-oh, did anyone see?

Grant's mom bought the kids some toys to play with. Dylan loved his toy snake!

Dylan and Lexie were absolutely filthy by the end of the day. Here's some proof:

Lexie hung all over her crush (Grant's friend, Jason) all evening, and Dylan befriended Nannie's teenage neighbor, so they were in good hands for the day. Which left me plenty of time to eat my second meal, and hit up the dessert table two...or three...or four times. But who's counting?

It was yet another great Memorial Day. And this time it didn't rain!

Happy Memorial Day!

Apologies

I've been slacking with blogging lately, thanks to lots of things to do, and many recent tests and doctors appointments.

I have a whole slew of blogs written and ready to go, as soon as I upload the pics
