It's the last Friday of the school year! It was supposed to be the last day of school, but they have to go on Monday to make up a snow day. The end of the year is always so bittersweet. The kids are excited for Summer Break, but they find it difficult to say goodbye to their amazing teachers. I always wonder if next year's teachers will be just as good as the this year's teachers. Having wonderful teachers really does make a difference! Thankfully, my kids have been lucky so far!
Although it's hard to say goodbye, we are REALLY looking forward to the more relaxed summer schedule. I'm one of those weird moms who actually likes spending the Summer with her kids. They just grow up too fast and I want to enjoy spending time with them while I can! (I'm certain there will plenty of moments when they drive me nuts, though!) I am dreading the start of the new school year, but I'll save that conversation for another day!
Here's what I'm loving this week:
{ONE}
I can finally share some exciting news! (No, it isn't another baby!) I'm thrilled to announce that I am now a member of the Pittsburgh Moms Blog team, which is part of the city moms blog network! In addition to maintaining my personal blog, doing online volunteer work for the Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network and, you know, just chasing around 4+ kids, I'm going to be contributing two posts each month on the Pittsburgh Moms Blog. I gave up on sleep long ago and happily embrace being a Mombie! I'm so excited about this opportunity!
{TWO}
I did a little shopping at the Target Dollar Spot this week. $16 later and I'm feeling patriotic!
{THREE}
{FOUR}
I finished The Girl on the Train on Saturday. I loved it! And I have no idea what to read next. Any ideas?
{FIVE}
I went to Dylan's STEAM expo at his school today. The kids did such a great job programming their LEGO vehicles. I truly can't believe my oldest child is going into 6th grade in the Fall! WHAT?!? But I'm still in my twenties! (Not really, but I feel like it!)
{SIX}
I finally caved and bought Liam a pair of Native Jefferson Slip-on Sneakers. They're actually really cute and they slip on so easily. We've only had them for 2 days, but so far, I'm a fan!
{SEVEN}
My sweet Lily Belle! She still asks every single day if she's finally going to get on the bus and go to Kindergarten. I hope she's this excited when the actual day arrives! (I know I won't be!)
{EIGHT}
Can you believe it's already June?!? I'm working on filling in my planner and editorial calendar. It's going to be a busy month, but it's warm and we're going to enjoy a lot of Summer activities. I'm excited!
{NINE}
I spoke with a family yesterday who just received a prenatal Down syndrome diagnosis. Although the way we found out was much different, I still remember those initial feelings so vividly. I wish I could lend Liam to anyone who receives the news. He just radiates pure love and joy! If only I knew then what I know now. Down syndrome is truly beautiful.
That little dose of happiness put me in a great mood!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! What are your plans?

Congrats! So excited for you becoming part of the Pittsburg Mom group. Way to go Lexie with putting herself out there. I love that you spoke with a family yesterday about their diagnosis. I'm sure you were so helpful to them. You are a rockstar Momma.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! XOXO Have a great weekend!
DeleteCongratulations, that IS exciting news. I love how you include a little bit about each kid each week. Such a fun way to document what's going on.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I try to, but it doesn't always happen! Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteLove your Target finds!! I also love Natives...they are so much cuter than Crocs! Both my kids need new pairs...guess I have to bite the bullet and order them!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend!
They are definitely cuter than Crocs! I love them so far.
DeleteI hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Congratulations on being selected for the Blog Team!! That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Brettni!
DeleteThat is so awesome you are part of the blog team! You will be awesome. I am in total denial of the whole 6th grade thing too, I have to admit those middle school years scare me. Soccer is great, hope she has fun
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI'm not looking forward to 6th grade. I hear it just keeps getting tougher from 5th grade on!
1,000 times yes to the Target dollar spot!

One of my favorite places! Haha!
DeleteCongrats on your new gig with the Pittsburgh Mom's. You are going to do a great job! I always love reading your posts. They are lucky to have you! I have never heard the term Mombie before, but it is so fitting. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!!
DeleteI can't remember where I first saw the term, but my husband posted a mombie meme and said it was me in the morning. SO true!
I'm so jealous of your Pittsburgh blogging group! We don't have anything like that here and I don't even personally know any bloggers. It makes me so sad not to have a real life blog buddy here in town.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Girl on the Train so good?? I'm about to start Me Before You... I've heard nothing but great things so if you haven't read it, try that one!
You should start a group through the City Moms Blog Network for your area! XOXO I get to meet all the ladies next Wednesday, and I'm so excited.
DeleteI loved that book. I have Me Before You, After You, The Good Girl and Luckiest Girl Alive on my list. I'm not sure which one I'm going to read first!
Liam is such a happy soul!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the added role!
I've just started See Me by Nicholas Sparks. So far, so good. It doesn't seem to be his traditional love story. More along the lines of The Guardian, another of his novels. I've also heard Me Before You is fantastic. I'm waiting on that one to come in at our library. Happy weekend!
Thank you so much! He really is and I'm so excited about blogging for them.
DeleteI will check that book out. I have Me Before You on my list. I'm sure it will make me cry!
Those last pictures are just too much!!! So so sweet.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations again on becoming a contributor! It can feel overwhelming to add one more thing to your plate, but it is SUCH an honor to be invited! And so super cool. I'm glad you have the chance to do it!
Thank you so much, Courtney! I'm so excited about the opportunity!
DeleteSo excited to see you on Pittsburgh Moms Blog! How fun!!! I will need to stock up on some Fourth of July goodies; since Brielana IS a Fourth of July baby, I get to, right?! :) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you! XOXO You totally need to stock up. That's such a fun birthday!
DeleteAwww, all such sweet pictures. Yay on becoming a contributor--I embraced being a mombie a long time ago too.haha
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Sometimes you just have to accept the mombie role and move on, right?
DeleteCongrats on the Pittsburg Moms Blog! And Target tried to pull me in with all their 4th of july goodies, but i managed to resists for now. But my favorite thing about this post.... "Down Syndrome is truly beautiful!"!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I appreciate your sweet comment!
DeleteI'm also truly impressed that you managed to resist the urge to shop!
Congrats on the Pittsburgh Mom's Blog gig! That's awesome! It's been far too long since I've hit up the Target Dollar Spot. Your haul is awesome and I need to get there this week. I've heard great things about The Girl on the Train but I have yet to read it yet - I need to get on that this summer.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou should definitely read it. It's a great one!
I bought some Natives for Caleb and Tyler a few weeks ago. I love them!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like them! They are perfect considering Liam is always taking his shoes off. Much easier to put on than his other shoes!
