August was an exciting month for our family! Despite my attempt to slow down time, Lily turned 3 and Liam turned 1. On August 16th, our family members and closest friends gathered to celebrate Lily's 3rd Birthday and Liam's 1st Birthday!
My Frozen-obsessed Lily wanted a Frozen theme, but Liam needed his own theme, too. Shortly after Liam was born, people began to buy him Superman items. He participated in his first Dash for Down Syndrome in his caped Superman bib. He defied odds all through his first year of life. A SuperLiam theme was perfect for him, and Lily was a beautiful Elsa!
Everything at the party was split in half. We had a cake/photo table for Lily and a cake/photo table for Liam. They each had a special chair. Half of the tables for the guests were Frozen-themed while the other half were Superman-themed. Half the guests arrived wearing Superman apparel and the other half wore Frozen shirts or dresses. I had to represent both kids, so I wore a Superman shirt and the Anna braids Lily requested! As usual, my mom made the cakes. Unfortunately, Queen Elsa and her colleagues attacked her cake before I could take a picture!
Yet again, I decided to skip the games. Instead, we gave the kids Frozen and Superman tattoos after they arrived. We also had a little table set up for coloring. The kids could choose to color a Superman or Frozen printable. I may have caught MawNaw coloring a picture, too.
Liam decided to start out the party with a nap. He didn't miss much. The other kids kept busy playing while we chatted and got the food ready. The little girls came up with a great idea that involved a wagon and a hill.
The smell of food woke Liam up. Despite his tiny size, he does NOT miss a meal!
Lily couldn't wait to open her presents. After we ate, she got her chance. She has quite the collection of Frozen items now!
Once Lily's presents were opened, she and her friends ran off with a few toys. The rest of the kids were happy to help Liam open his gifts. Liam received an entire Fall wardrobe and some fun toys!
We had an interesting guest while Liam was unwrapping his gifts. As the frog jumped through the crowd, people scattered and yelled. The frog was caught, and went home with my brother-in-law. He has a new home in their little pond!
We immediately moved on to cake. Liam went first, because it was his first birthday!
Liam was not happy when I tried to lift him out to put on his bib. He already knew cake was a good thing. He was a huge fan! He ate until he couldn't eat another bite!
Lily's was just as excited about her cake!
After cake was eaten and Liam was wiped clean, we spent the rest of the party hanging out with some of our favorite people! We are so lucky to be surrounded by so many loving people.
The day flew by, night fell, and the kids got very tired. Lily stomped upstairs and fell asleep, and Liam didn't last much longer!
We were all exhausted by the end of the day. It was a fantastic party!
SOO adorable! Happy late birthday to both!
