Every year, on the first Saturday in August, my dad's side of the family gathers for a family reunion.
My family is HUGE. There are so many of us, that I don't even know everybody's name or how we're related! We know we're family, and that's all that matters!
We always have so much fun at the reunion. There are tons of kids, and they all play well together, even the ones that only see each other once a year. Everybody has a big family, so the older kids are amazing with the younger kids and babies. They have no problem scooping up a baby or child they last saw a year ago!
At last year's reunion, Lily was only 3 days old! This year, it was held the day after her first birthday! She loved playing with all of her distant cousins!
There are always organized games for the kids (my sister and I were assigned that duty next year), and the big event of the day is the horse race. Oh yes, my family loves to gamble. The races are divided up by age groups, and people place bets on which "horse" will win! Swimsuits are a must (and I always forget them!), or else they leave soaked and filthy from all the water play!
This year's reunion was SO hot, but so much fun!
Next year's reunion falls on Lily's birthday! I have a feeling her birthday parties are going to always revolve around our reunion!

ReplyDeleteI can not get over how stinking cute your kids are! Your son (well all of your children) have grown SO much! Your son is really looking "older" now though--my goodness! I love that we have been following each other's blogs for so long! Let me know if you ever decide to attend a blog conference! I have never been to one, but plan to within the next couple of years and would love to meet up! :)
