Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, my friends!

This was one of those weeks where I kept thinking, "Is it over yet?!?"  Life is so busy (and expensive) right now and I'm starting to feel very overwhelmed.  I just keep reminding myself to stay positive and focus on all the good stuff! And there's plenty of that!

{ONE}

Spring weather, afternoon walks with my kids, cute dresses with pockets, and an adorable little boy who likes to sign "EAT" all the time.

An upcoming shop feature that I'm very excited about.  If you have a little one, check out Hemming Birds Boutique! I love their Snap Bibs!

Chaperoning my 5th grader's field trip! I had my hands full with six boys, but I'm so glad I got to spend the day with him. It served as a reminder that he is rapidly growing up and away from us and that I need to embrace all those moments, as frustrating as they may be at times! (Cue tears.)

An interesting discovery. It's never good when you get a text from your husband that says, "Just wait until you see what we found in the yard!" And when I got home, Lexie ran over with a handful of...

Grant accidentally ruined the nest while moving things to mow, and scattered these newborns all over the yard.  He and the kids collected them so they didn't get hurt or cold and waited for me to get home.  The girls were so excited and begged us to let them keep the babies, but we decided that we needed to attempt to rebuild the nest. The girls are animal lovers like me, so they were bummed and worried about those little babies. Dylan did see a rodent run under the playhouse after we put the babies back under it, so hopefully it was the mom and she took care of them!

This sweet little girl had Kindergarten assessment today. I overheard her telling her life story (and then some) to the teacher during the assessment, so I have no doubt she's going to be perfectly fine in Kindergarten, despite being so young!

But still. Kindergarten!  My heart can't take it!

  2. I am right there with you on life is so busy and expensive!! It IS really easy to become overwhelmed. Thanks for the reminder to focus on the positive!! I can relate with parenting a tween. It's so hard to watch your kids grow away from you! I love having little kids so it's such a transition. Have a great weekend Stefanie!!

    1. It really is incredibly difficult. You know you're supposed to raise them to be independent and have their own life, but it's so hard to let go!

  4. I'm not very "naturey" what type of rodent was that? Yikes! I would have freaked. I think you handled the situation well. I love your striped dress! So cute. I love dresses because they're easy to throw on and it looks put together, even if I only had ten minutes to get ready. Have a great weekend!

    1. It took some research, but we found out they were newborn field mice. The mother definitely moved them, because they were gone the next day!

  6. I saw the mice picture on IG and immediately called my Granny to see if she remembered us bringing her baby mice that we had found in their barn. It was probably 25 or more years ago. We were all so little.

Anywho, she remembered and it was fun chatting with her about it. Thanks for taking me on a trip down memory lane. =)

  7. Lol I loved the "telling her life story" to the teacher. Boy is that my Abigail! She doesn't know a stranger and can she talk. Sheesh.

    That dinner looks AMAZING

  8. I'm going to sound cliche, but why do the kids have to grow up so fast??? I just about cried with my OB nurse yesterday when she said her youngest is about to graduate from HS. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

  9. We love afternoon walks too though it won't be long before they will have to be morning walks because of how hot it's getting already. So have you looked back to see if the babies survived?

  12. I am LOVING that dress. Seriously so cute and then I saw the pockets. Pockets make everything better. Such sweet girls to be so concerned over those babies. I can't believe Kindergarten is here for us too!
