The end of the school year is approaching, the weather is getting hot, and we are ready for the "lazy" days of summer!
Yesterday, we attended a birthday cookout for our friend, Rex. One of our favorite things to do is hang out with our friends, and we had so much fun celebrating Rex's birthday! Great friends, (tons of) great food, and lots of fun!
All of our kids were there, so Amber set up a homemade slip and slide to keep them busy. She put down a huge tarp on the hill beside their house, brought out the hose, and gave the kids bubble bath and water balloons. It resulted in hours of fun for them! Best of all? No baths needed thanks to all the soap!
Lily sat back and watched the action for a bit...
...but really wanted to join in!
Watching her attempt to climb up the slip and slide was hilarious! She had the biggest smile on her face, and cracked up every time she slipped! It took a while, but she was determined, and made it nearly to the top!
We brought the babies in once it got dark, and eventually everybody came in.
Lily even surprised us by taking 3 steps on her own before losing her balance!
We stayed as late as we possibly could, considering it was a school night. Everybody had a great time, and was reluctant to leave! It was another great celebration with our awesome friends!
Today, Dylan had Olympic Fun Day at school! I volunteered for the morning shift, so I took him to school and got my event (cornhole) set up. Unfortunately, it was raining, so it had to be held indoors. Of course. It has been gorgeous all week, until today!
It was an all-day event for the kids, and the school kicked it off with an opening ceremony. They had a slideshow with individual pictures of all the kids in the school set to dance music. It was so cute watching the kids dance around and shout out the name of every child as the pictures passed by.
I'm not going to lie, I did tear up. Yes, my hormones are out of control. I couldn't help it. I love the primary center. It's just Kindergarten and first grade, and the kids are still so young, sweet, and innocent. It's hard to believe that it's Dylan's last year in the building!
I had a bit of a lull during my shift, so I got to observe Dylan's class in action as they went from event to event. My shift finished earlier than I expected, so I started to head out while Dylan was at lunch. Just as I was about to leave, I saw Dylan walking down the hall, crying a bit. He was on his way to the nurse because he had a bad stomach ache. I didn't doubt him, because I had the same thing last week, and he only went to school a half day on Wednesday because of it, so I took him home with me. I felt so bad that he had to miss the second half of Olympic Fun Day!
I'm just happy I got to be part of this much anticipated day at Dylan's school! I love my little man!
Only 2 school days left for him, and then we're officially on Summer Break!
Aw, sorry he had to miss the last of his fun day but glad you were there to take him.
