We had awesome tickets, thanks to my brother-in-law! He had won tickets to the game during a golf outing last week, but was going to be out of town during the game. As soon as he realized the Pirates were playing the Tigers, which is Grant's favorite team, he called me and told me he had a surprise for Grant! Grant was thrilled!
Even though we could have taken Lily to the game (for free), we decided she would be happier spending time with her grandparents. Plus, the big kids got some quality time with us!
It was a gorgeous night in Pittsburgh! The weather was perfect, and the view just as beautiful as ever.
The kids fell asleep during the short drive into the city, but perked up as soon as we pulled into the parking garage. It was free shirt night at PNC Park, and our seats were great! Our family was obviously divided. Grant and Dylan were in their Tigers gear, while Lexie and I cheered for our home team!
We found our seats, then grabbed some drinks and food to enjoy (talk about expensive!!!) while we waited for the game to start! Funny story-later in the game, I went to get our drink refilled, and in the crowd, I managed to run into my blogger/twitter friend. What are the chances of that?!?
Okay...back to the game! The stadium was packed, and the crowd was full of excitement!
Grant asked me to be his personal photographer. He wanted shots of his favorite Tigers (Fielder!!!), as well as shots of his brother's favorite Pirates. It was great practice for me! I had fun shooting the game and scenery, all in manual mode! I can't wait to get my hands on an even better zoom lens!
I have to admit, I spent a lot of time checking out the Pittsburgh skyline. We live in a gorgeous city. PNC park, and the view from the park, is beautiful. The sun setting over city was perfect.
Grant, the kids, and I had a great time!
Even though I was cheering for the Pirates, I was a bit disappointed that Grant's team was losing. He loves them so much! Dylan even changed into his new Pirates shirt halfway through the game. I guess he was representing both teams! The Pirates pulled off a win, which resulted in some fireworks!
It was a fantastic night, and we can't wait to go back for another game!
How long has Grant been a Tigers fan? I have a lifetime family friend that used to play for them!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and I lovelovelove Lexie's dress!!
Glad you all had a good time!

ReplyDeleteHow fun! We went to a baseball game on father's day, but it was just minor league.
ReplyDeleteWow, you shot all those in manual?!?
Boo that the Tigers lost.

WHAT is this Tigers business?! Lol You got so many great shots! In manual - wooooo! I adore Lexie's dress and the family photos! But that last shot of the park is just amazing - the lighting is so great! And you captured fireworks well! I cant wait to go to a game with my new camera. I'm jealous you have any kind of zoom lens! Haha! Great job.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! That silly pic Dylan and Lexie make me laugh out loud...too cute!

ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun! We took the boys to their first college football game last year but haven't been to a baseball game yet. I guess we will have to put it on the schedule!
ReplyDeleteI can't stand baseball on tv, but I do love it at the stadium. So much fun!
