It has been a great Christmas break! Ten days full of family and fun!
Tonight, we returned to reality. The reality of a regular bedtime. The reality of getting ready for school tomorrow. The reality of Grant going back to work.
Grant had the entire week after Christmas off from work, so we're used to having him home. We crammed a lot into his 10 days off! Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, lots of shopping, going to the Children's Museum, visiting family members, New Years Eve, New Years Day, another Christmas celebration, having friends over...It was busy, but fun! We also celebrated 3 birthdays. My nephew, my niece, and my sister!
We spent a lot of time together, at home, as a family. We played games, made aliens with Dylan's Martian Matter Maker, watched movies, played with new Playdoh sets and Moon Sand sets, built many Lego sets, and put together new toys.
I'm not quite sure I'm ready to return to reality, but life goes back to normal tomorrow morning!
We had a great time at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. It's close to us, and we always get free passes, but we only go once a year. This was Grant's first visit to the museum with us. Since it was the week after Christmas, it was crazy busy!
We actually met up with my sister and her family at the museum. I didn't even know she was going until she called me to say hello, and mentioned that they were going that day. They arrived before us, and had lunch, so we bumped into them as they were coming out of the cafe, and we were coming in. We spent the rest of the day with them, which made the kids happy!
Lexie and Dylan in the Mister Rogers room.
Dylan, Brady, and Lexie washing a car in the Garage/Workshop.
Lexie made my sister go down every slide with her!
Lexie spent some time building things while the boys ran around.
The cousins playing with a musical, magnetic wheel.
The loom maze was a big hit. Too bad we couldn't stay long, since the room was like a sauna!
Lexie and Dylan decided to dance on the shadow platform!
The favorite feature in the museum is the water play floor! The kids change into raincoats and crocs, and splash away at huge water tables in a gymnasium sized room. The adults get to sit on surfboards and relax!
After getting dried off, the kids calmed down with a climb through the 3-story cage. Okay, so Lexie didn't, but she considered it!
We spent some time in the art studio before heading out. Lexie and Dylan made chickens!
The kids had a great time! I think Grant was just overwhelmed. It was a nice family day!
We did not get the snow that they predicted over the weekend (we only got an inch), but it sure is cold! I think I'd rather see snow than these temperatures!
We had such a wonderful Christmas break! I'm sad to see it end!
The snow missed us too!
ReplyDeleteThe museum looks like so much fun. I love going through all the exhibits. The adults end up having just as much fun as the kids!
The Children's museum looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteBack to reality for us today too. Ugh. I'm so sleepy.
I am glad you enjoyed your time over Christmas and the New Year together. I love when my hubby is off work and home. It is so nice to be together doing fun things or nothing at all. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI think they invented tights so girls could play hard in a dress and not give every one a show!! I wanted to take Nate to the children's museum, but with the baby I figured I couldn't keep up with him. It looks like you guys had a great time!
ReplyDeletewhat do you think of that martian maker? we got that last year. I hated it. nothing but goop and mess. i threw it away...lol.
ReplyDeleteI have free passes to there too but haven't gone yet. My kids all prefer the science center though and I am a member there so we usually go there instead. there is a water play area there too.
I know Christmas came and went way to fast. I can not believe its gone and done. I really need to take the kids to the museum here in Minnesota soon. I should have done it over Christmas break, now we will have to find another day off. Looks like you all had a blast! Love lexi dress :)
ReplyDeleteHope you get to relax a little with the kids back in school!!
Our Christmas break was just like yours. Lot's of playing and fun at home. It was quite nice! I'm glad you all had a great break. Now, it's back to reality!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat museum looks so fun!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks like a really awesome place!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the water floors. How creative?!
I see Lexie has a "Mistletoe" in a few pictures. T has one too, and as hard as I tried, I could not pack it away with all the Christmas items this year because she asked for him about every hour!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! That place looks awesome! I might have to drive your way and check it out some day!
