Life Got You Down?

Do you ever have one of those days that knock you to the ground?

Do you ever have one of those days where you try to stay positive despite the circumstances?

Do you ever have one of those days where it's so difficult to stay positive, and the eternal optimist inside of you is starting to feel doubtful? And you just want to give up for a bit?

I had one of those days today.

It's so hard to watch the two people you love most (other than your husband and kids) go through a difficult time.

It's hard to see them hurting and see them hurting each other.

It's hard knowing that they can't get away from each other, yet can't go on like this.

It's hard being the one that ties them both together, and realizing that you are in the middle. It's hard knowing that you are the only thing they have in common. It's hard knowing that they are collapsing because you are no longer there to hold them together every day.

It's hard when they both come to you to vent, and it's hard realizing that even if you give it your all, you may never be able to help them.

It's hard because you can't take sides like the other ones can. You have to remain neutral. Because you are the only one that links them together.

It's hard, but you realize that life will go on and things will get better. Because it has to.

Because your eternal optimist will feel better and be thinking more clearly after getting some sleep.

  2. I'm sorry Stef, sounds like a lot of pressure to put on yourself. Things have a way of working themselves out. Hang in there.

  5. wow, it sounds like you are in a tough spot- and those who put you there don't realize the impact their actions are having on you.
I am glad for you that you have the ability to look outside the situation and see the silver lining in the family you have. I sure hope you have a good support system- but I am sure you do!

  10. Yes, I've had those days. Ugh. I'm sorry. Is it your parents? mine got divorced about 2 years ago. Roller-Coaster.

  11. I felt like that when my parents were going through their divorce. I finally had to put my foot down and say I didn't want to hear either of them talk about it to me any more. It was tough, but they both realized the position it was putting me in.

  12. Well, Stef... it sounds a lot like my life a few years back. When all of "we kids" grew up and moved out, then the distance between my parents was so much more obvious. They were horrible together... both miserable.

It was soooo hard on the ENTIRE family - being stuck, taking sides, trying not to take sides, being forced to.

But I can happily say that now, almost 10 years later, both are HAPPILY MARRIED to different people, and I thoroughly enjoy BOTH sets of parents now. I praise God that He can bring riches from ashes.
