Life in a big family is always an adventure! Vacation is no different. Two parents + Four Kids + 1 Extra Chromosome + Our Favorite Beach Vacation Spot = Extra Fun Family Adventures!
What happens when life gets so busy that the blog posts in your drafts folder start to multiply? Well, you realize that you never finished recapping your last family vacation, and you're already planning the next one! So before moving onto some new content this week, I'm going to recap another day of adventures from Virginia Beach!
When you take 2,000+ photos on vacation, you have to break it down into several posts. With one or two more posts, my recap will be complete! (And hopefully I'll have better luck recapping it in a timely manner this year!)
Our 4th day at Virginia Beach started off a bit lazy. We went down to the buffet room to eat, then enjoyed the views from our balcony while we sipped hot tea, and the kids played. And the youngest member of our family just might have covered his napping big brother in underwear in a ploy to get him to wake up to go down to the beach...
It worked! 😉
Heading down to the beach with our 500 pounds of gear was always a dreaded task until this vacation! We made a very smart decision, and opted to buy a beach cart. Best vacation purchase EVER! Everybody was happy upon arrival, and not puffing from exertion!
Our afternoon at the beach together was short-lived, because our normally happy little dude got a case of the grumpies!
This crew of party poopers headed back up to our family suite to get some much needed rest!
Lily, who is a beach bum like me, opted to hang out on the beach with me for the rest of the afternoon! I was happy to have one partner in crime. And by crime, I mean hanging out on the beach all day, being lazy!
Eventually, Dylan and Lexie came down and to ride their scooters on the boardwalk, and crashed our party.
Our beach party didn't last long. Unfortunately, some storm clouds started to blow in from the ocean, and the beach was shut down. We raced upstairs, and watched the powerful storm from our balcony. And as usual, another outfit change was in order...
Just as quickly as it began, the storm was over. The evening was so gorgeous that you would have never known such a powerful storm even happened! Eager to escape from their hotels and beach houses, everybody was out on the beautiful Virginia Beach Boardwalk that night, including us!
(Just FYI, although we do take a stroller on vacation with us, this awesome Lillebaby CarryOn Toddler gets a lot of use. It's so comfortable that even my husband likes to wear Liam in a back carry!
We took a little detour to explore the Naval Aviation Monument Park for teh first time. If you're in Virginia Beach, it's right off the boardwalk, and it deserves a visit. It's absolutely beautiful!
As the sun began to set, we continued down the Boardwalk, visiting some of our favorite attractions along the way...
Finally, we made it to our destination: King Neptune Statue!
Lily and Liam spotted a playground on the beach, so they had to run down and play for a bit, while Dylan and Lexie rode their scooters up and down the boardwalk.
By the time they were done playing, it was fully dark. We almost headed back to the hotel room, but the fun wasn't over yet! It just so happened that SPIN DOCTORS were playing a free concert at Neptune's Park! Remember them?!? (If you go to Virginia Beach, research Neptune's Park's daily events. The orchestra also plays there for free, which we LOVE!) We had a little dance party on the boardwalk, and sang along as they took us for a walk down memory lane!
The hours passed by, and we eventually rounded up our kids, and marched our exhausted crew back down the boardwalk to our hotel. We had such a fun day full of so many adventures! And sometimes, our family adventures are so exciting, that we end up passing out on the floor!
Check back next week as our family adventure in Virginia Beach continues! And will we be returning there this year or heading somewhere new? That has yet to be decided!

So much fun!! I totally remember Spin Doctors and that's awesome they were playing!! So funny Liam used underwear to lure Dylan up! haha!
ReplyDeleteI know! We were so glad we didn't miss the concert! And it's right on the boardwalk, so the kids could play!
DeleteGreat recap! Love the pictures.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dara!
DeleteThat sounds like a fabulous trip! We almost headed to Virginia beach last year.. I had the whole trip planned out on paper but somehow we never made it there and I can't remember why... Looks like a great time though. I love all the family photos and that you are in so many of them. I am awful about being IN photos since I'm always taking them.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the chance to go soon! It's one of our favorite vacation spots! And I totally get not being in the picture. That's usually what happens, but my husband was really good about taking the camera from me during this trip!
DeleteOh my goodness, this looks like it was such a FUN trip!!!! I want to go on vacation! I didn't realize you ladies had a link-up today. I am jumping in; thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteHi Bri! We had a great time! And yes, we host it every Wednesday. Make sure you link up your posts so we can read them! XOXO
DeleteWhat a fun time!! This has me wanting to go to the beach so bad!
ReplyDeleteI know! I can't wait to go back! Hopefully I can finish the recap before our next vacation...haha!
DeleteWhat a fun recap and such beautiful pictures! I will have to join this link up soon!
ReplyDeleteVacations with a big family are always tricky! Heck...now I think mine would be a blast on vacation if I could actually round them all up at the same time for one. The beach to me is always the perfect vacation...one I can actually relax on!
ReplyDeleteOh I long for the beach! This look so fun!
ReplyDeleteYour kids look like they had such a great time - even in the rain! Bless the asleep on the floor photo! I love Dylan's float suit - that is a brilliant idea. Looks like there was a ton to see and do at Virginia Beach - I would like to go and see the war memorials in the US at some point (for WW2 especially) - I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for your grand-fathers / great uncles and so on! Can't wait now for the beach days to arrive here - Joanne x
