The LAST Monthly Post-Liam at 23 Months

Time flies.  It's cliche, but absolutely true.  In less than a week, my BABY will be two! Wasn't he just born?!?  I truly can't believe it!

Milestones:  Liam is a full-time walker!  He rarely crawls, and his new favorite hobby is climbing on everything in sight!


  
Tooth Count:  He has 10 teeth with more on the way!



Eating:  Liam is on a typical feeding schedule.  He eats 3 meals a day plus 2-3 snacks. He drinks his milk from a straw cup. He weaned himself from nursing 2 weeks ago, and it's very bittersweet.  I am so proud that he managed to nurse for almost 2 years despite one particular doctor repeatedly telling us he couldn't do it!  He sure proved her wrong!


 
Favorite Foods:  Macaroni Salad, Bananas, Watermelon, Cereal Bars, Yogurt, Pasta with Marinara or Alfredo Sauce, Macaroni and Cheese, Cornbread, Macaroni and Cheese, Yogurt Melts, Applesauce, and Tapioca Pudding.
 

   
Sleeping:  He's still a great sleeper!  He sleeps 12-14 hours a night and takes a nap every afternoon for 1-2 hours.


  
Words/Signs:  Liam repeats a lot of words, but he regularly says Mama, Dada, Papa, Dyl (Dylan), Lexie, Lily, Dog, No, Stop, Door, Open, Up, Down, Hat, Bubbles, Book, Hi, Bye, Ball, and All Done. I mentioned before that his speech isn't as clear as "typical" kids his age, but he actually does really well. I was so afraid he would be nonverbal, but he's very chatty and very receptive to learning.  He loves speech therapy! He regularly signs eat and more, he knows some animal sounds, waves hi and bye, claps, and he loves to sing and dance! His newest trick is blowing kisses with a "mwah" sound.  It's so sweet!


   
Likes:  Climbing, singing, dancing, spinning in circles (on his feet now!), pushing furniture through the house, pushing cars around, chasing after Dylan's remote-controlled cars, playing outside, splashing in his baby pool, playing in the sandbox, swinging, exploring the library, taking baths, eating, snuggling, giving hugs and kisses, grabbing glasses off of faces, making messes, looking through books, speech therapy sessions, pulling stuff out of kitchen cabinets, playing with the edge pieces on his foam mat, and hanging out with family and friends.


   
Dislikes:  Waiting for food, getting his face wiped, being cold, getting his hair washed, and getting his diaper changed. These never seem to change!

Health:  100% healthy! He doesn't have any of the health issues associated with Down syndrome.
 


Early Intervention:  Liam receives one hour each of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Therapy in our home every week.  I can't stress enough the importance of starting speech therapy at 12-14 months, even if you're told it's too early.  IT'S NOT!


   
Wearing:  Liam mostly wears 9-12 month clothing now.  However, some 3-6 and 6-9 month items still fit well! He wears size 3 shoes (he moved up!) and size 3 diapers. We attempted to move up to size 4 diapers, but had to go back down a size!


  
Personality:  He is full of beauty, joy, love, and innocence.  I've never met a child as loving and happy as he is! We are SMITTEN with our sweet boy!
