Weekending

Our weekends seem to fly by! Now that I'm getting up early during the week, and running kids to and from the bus and school, weekends mean so much more to me! This weekend was another good one.

On Friday, we celebrated my mom's birthday! My mom means the world to me. She is so kind, giving, and loving. She is a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. We are all blessed to have her in our lives!

Happy Birthday, Mom! We enjoyed spending it with you!

Saturday is our sleep in day, and it was NICE! That afternoon we ran some errands. The Sketchers I bought for Dylan to wear to school fell apart after being worn for just 9 days, so we had to return them. Taking Dylan shoe shopping is not much fun. He ended up with a much more expensive pair of shoes that Grant and I thought were hideous...but he loves them!

When we got home, Lexie wowed us with her ingenious solution to stop runny noses:

After dinner, we had some friends over for the evening. It was a late night for all of us!

Today, we went to our friend's house for a football party. We cheered on the Steelers (guys downstairs, girls and kids upstairs), and they kicked butt! It was a lot of fun to watch the game with friends!

Our littlest Steelers fan is so cute!

When we came home from watching the game, Dylan decided he wanted to learn how to ride his bike. He honestly hasn't been interested in bike riding, which is why he never learned to ride without training wheels. There isn't anywhere to ride at our house, and there aren't any kids his age to ride bikes with here, so he never cared. He prefers to play sports (a slight baseball obsession!) and go hiking! He started to learn last year, but then I got pregnant, and we got busy, and then the summer was over.

So today was the day! I took him to a small lot near our house, and within 10 minutes he was doing it!

I felt guilty that we didn't push him to learn earlier, but seeing the pride on his face wiped away the guilt! He's so excited to keep practicing!

During our evening chaos of dinner, baths/showers, and getting ready for the school week, I managed to spend a little quality time with each kid. That was a nice way to end the weekend! Lexie was the first to fall asleep, so Dylan and Lily cuddled for a bit before Dylan headed off to bed.

Lily always gets to stay up a bit later with us. We thoroughly enjoyed watching her smile and laugh, and listen to her coo, as she played on her mat!

I love weekends with my family!

  7. love the runny nose fix...genius! Ha! TOO CUTE!

Ok, how did you teach him how to ride the bike so quickly? I need help. Although Jacob is only 4, he rides almost every day, when I run and I know the training wheels are slowing him down, but as soon as we take 'em off and he pedals, he falls off :( HELP?? What's the secret?!
