Hanging Up My Cape

This morning I woke up with a raging case of Mastitis. I have never experienced this before, and I can honestly say, I hope I never do again! I never realized just how painful it is and just how sick it makes you! I've been battling severe pain, a 102 degree fever, a massive headache, nausea, and body aches all day.

Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do but make an appointment, and just keep going. Dylan had to get on the bus, I had to take Lexie to (a few tears this morning) and from school, and we had a park playdate and storytime at the library!

I had planned on catching up on my blog reading (I'm so behind...sorry!) and getting my house cleaned, but ended up spending my afternoon at the OBGYN, and running from pharmacy to pharmacy trying to track down my antibiotic.

By the time I got home, it was after 4:00, and I CRASHED. My fever was back up to 102, I had chills, and I felt as if I was going to fall over. I put on TV for the kids, and dragged myself to bed. I always try to do everything and be SuperMom, but I just couldn't anymore.

Thank goodness the cause of all this is super cute and sweet!

I'm still trying to recover from the first week of school and our weekend! I can't believe how busy life just got!

On Friday, Lexie had her first day of preschool alone, and she did great!

Grant and I celebrated 11 years of marriage...at home, with our kiddos. After dinner, we arranged for Dylan and Lexie to have a movie night, so Grant and I could spend some time together watching our favorite shows!

Grant spoiled me with a bouquet of roses, a beautiful necklace, beautiful earrings, and an "L" charm (for my newest baby!) for my nomination bracelet.

On Saturday, we got to sleep in, and had a quiet afternoon at home.

Late that afternoon, my parents came over to watch the kids. Grant and I went out for our anniversary dinner! It was so nice to eat out alone and spend some time together without interruption!

Dylan spent the night at my parents house, so we loaded up the girls, and went over to my best friend's house to celebrate her husband's birthday. Little Miss Lily hooked up with a particularly handsome little man.

When we got home, I decided it would be a great idea to stay up until 4:30 AM reading. Great book, but I was exhausted yesterday!

We ended up watching the first Steeler's game with Grant's family. Even though they lost...badly...we had a good time!

I went to bed early last night, expecting an easy morning. Not so much. I'm really hoping the antibiotic kicks in quickly! Nobody ever told me just how bad this is. I'll be taking it easy until this passes!

  1. Oh you poor thing! I got mastitis with one of my second 2, I can't remember which now. And I've never been that sick in my life. I would gladly take the stomach flu after a csection than have mastitis. The meds DO kick in fast tho so I hope you're up to par quickly!!!

  2. I hate those infections! I get at least a couple with every nursing baby. Get those antibiotics in you as soon as possible and you will feel better.

  4. I had mastitis twice and it flips you over and knocks you down and beats you up and leaves you crying for relief. Ugh. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs.

  16. I have had a few bouts of that too...it lasted a day or 2. I do think stress and doing too much can contribute to that. rest up

  18. Super cute, looks like ya'll had a nice weekend. I hope you feel better, I've had that before with my first and boy does it suck. It seriously is the worst feeling ever and the fact that life still has to go on and you have to keep breastfeeding is even worse.

  19. Awww! I have had that before and it was really painful! What relieves me on that pain was a great shoulder and chest massage. Hope that will go away soon!

Oh btw, I am so surprised that Lily can lie down on her stomach and can even hold her head up! Did I miss you that long?!

    have a great weekend sissy!
    hugs!

  20. Ugh! I hope you are feeling better by now! I don't know how I managed to never get mastitis with any of my kids. I would frequently get clogged ducts but the babes were always really good about clearing that out!
