First Grader

Today was Dylan's first day of 1st grade!!!

He was too excited to fall asleep last night, and just as excited when he woke up this morning. He jumped out of bed, and cuddled with his sisters on the couch, while I made the breakfast of his choice: cinnamon rolls and sausage!

It was a cool, rainy morning, but we all went to the bus stop to see Dylan off to school!

I can't believe how grown up my little boy is! I can't believe he's in first grade, and will be at school all day!

There were only a few tears from mommy as the bus drove toward us. It definitely helped that Dylan was so excited. He climbed aboard the bus as a confident first grader! I don't think he even waved as the bus pulled away!

It was very strange having Dylan gone from the house for 8 hours. I really did end up missing him. When Dylan arrived home, he was greeted by our little family, my parents, and our neighbor. He was all smiles and said he had a great day!

We surprised Dylan with a chocolate donut to snack on after school, and a new toy. Grant picked out a wolverine action figure that he knew he would love! Then we celebrated with Dylan's favorite dinner: tacos!

It was obvious that he was tired after staying up too late and having a long day at school. He was asleep by 8:00! That made me a bit sad, because I only got to see him for 4 hours today. It's going to be difficult for both of us to get used to those long days!

He does love school though! He always has. He loved eating lunch in the cafeteria and seeing his friends on his bus. He told us all about the toys in his classroom, the girl who asked for his phone number, and the new friends he made!

Here's to a great year in first grade!!!

We love you so much, Dylan, and we are so proud of you!

We went out to dinner to celebrate Buddy's first day yesterday. He had a great day. This morning? He was crying about how he didn't want to go to school.

  7. Happy 1st day!! Great pictures and what a great day!

It sure is a transition to go from having them home to being gone all day.

I cried sending my 6th grader off...it took me by surprise since I haven't cried for a few years. :)

    Enjoy your girl time!

  11. Ha ha! Little ladies man. I always have a harder time adjusting to my kids going to school than they do!
