Nugget, Dylan, and a Menu Plan

Nugget:

I had my monthly OB appointment today. Our little one is growing well! My uterus is measuring exactly at 22 weeks, and the ultrasound showed that Nugget was measuring exactly where he/she should. The heartbeat was strong, and in the 150's again.

I'm doing well, too. My blood pressure is perfect and the urinalysis was normal. I weighed what I did 4 weeks ago. Even though I didn't gain, I didn't lose, either! The OB wants me to continue to take the Zofran everyday to help with the daily sickness. Even though I'm getting regular Braxton Hicks contractions, he's not placing any restrictions on me yet. He reminded me to drink as much water as possible, and to rest when they pick up. He did say that he highly suggests that I stay off my feet every evening, because that's when the contractions get stronger and more frequent. Sitting on the couch every night after the kid's go to bed? Doctors orders!!!

It was a good checkup for both of us!

Dylan:

I went to Dylan's parent/teacher conference on Friday. Just like last time, the teacher raved about how polite and well-behaved he is. She said that he is always so sweet and caring, and that his classmates love him. There are no worries socially or academically. He has mastered skills they haven't even learned yet, and is reading and writing incredibly well! We're so proud of how well he's doing in school. He's a smart and sweet little man!

He was supposed to have his first baseball practice of the season tonight, but the nearly 70 degree day yesterday turned into a cold and rainy one today. He was happy to hear that three of his former teammates and a preschool friend were on his team! He's playing coach pitch baseball this year instead of T-Ball, and is really looking forward to it!

Menu Plan:

I'm a few days late on our plan for the week!

Tuesday: Ravioli, Salad, and Breadsticks
Wednesday: Chicken Enchiladas and Beans
Thursday: Possibly dinner at my parent's house (Soup and Sandwiches if we can't make it)
Friday: Chili
Saturday: Soup and Sandwiches...or dinner with my parents if we can't make it on Thursday
Sunday: Grilled Pork Chops, Parsley Potatoes, Cauliflower/Broccoli/Carrot Medley

Recipe of the Week: Simple Chili

1 lb ground beef or turkey
1 large can of tomato sauce
1 large can of dark red kidney beans
1 packet of Mild Chili seasoning
Elbow macaroni
Saltines

1. Brown ground meat in a skillet, then drain. Transfer to a bigger pot.
2. Stir in tomato sauce, kidney beans, and chili seasoning. Bring to a boil.
3. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 20 minutes. While the chili simmers, prepare the macaroni.
4. Serve chili over macaroni and top with crushed saltines!

  1. I'm so glad there was no weight loss I know you were worried about that! Congrats to Dylan! As a former teacher I always loved bragging about kids to their parents! Also I love that you serve your chili skyline style over pasta, yum!

  2. Sounds like Dylan is doing excellent. That's awesome.

So your chili is more like chili mac, with the noodles in it? I've never tried that. We do, however, serve our chili over rice.

  4. Yay for not losing weight:) I'm glad everything is going well with you and nugget. Isn't it nice to get a great report from your kiddos teacher! What kind of ravioli do you cook? I've bought the frozen kind before and it was pretty good, but I wondered if the refridgerated kind was better.
