Yesterday, April 2nd, I celebrated my 31st birthday! I had a wonderful day!
I am surrounded by an amazing family, a wonderful group of friends, an incredible husband, and 2.5 kids that I love with all my heart. I felt the love!
The day couldn't have been any better. Grant, Dylan, and Lexie went out of their way to spoil me! Grant got up with the kids, so I could sleep in. I woke up to Grant serving me breakfast in bed, and birthday wishes from my little loves. Grant and the kids then left for the mall, leaving me to eat breakfast in peace. I enjoyed my quiet breakfast and the sweet little kicks from Nugget!
I was able to take my time getting ready for the day. I did end up having to drive to the mall to deliver a set of keys to Grant, because they were locked out of the SUV. It was okay, though. I got to drive Grant's car for the first time, and enjoy the silence! Truth be told, it's too small, and I prefer my soccer mom SUV!
There is one birthday moment that will stick with me forever. When Grant and the kids got home, Dylan and Lexie ran into the living room, calling my name. When I peeked around the corner, they had their arms wrapped around each other with a big bouquet of flowers between them. They flashed me gigantic smiles and wished me a happy birthday! That moment made my day!
After receiving my flowers, I got to open my gifts. I think Lexie was more excited about it than I was! I usually ask Grant to buy me clothes for my birthday, but that seemed pointless this year. I didn't need anything or have anything specific to ask for. I was very pleased with what they chose! I got a new pair of pajamas, a perfume I had been wanting, and a beautiful black diamond/white diamond butterfly necklace. As if that wasn't enough, there are 6 of my favorite bath and body works lotions being shipped to me! On top of that, my wonderful family gave me a bunch of gift cards!
My sweet kids then proceeded to put on a show for me! I got to relax on the couch, propped up with pillows, covered with blankets, surrounded by balloons, with a princess crown on my head, and watch the entertainment!
After the show was over, Grant gave me a massage. I seriously don't need to get a professional massage with him around!
That evening, my parents watched Dylan and Lexie, while Grant and I went out to dinner. I chose the Olive Garden, which is my favorite restaurant! There was a bit of a wait, but we didn't mind. We snagged two seats at the bar and got to chat while we waited! Thankfully, my double dose of Zofran helped, and I was able to enjoy (and keep down) my meal! It was so nice to be able to spend so much quality time with just Grant!
We were enjoying our time together, so we decided to run some errands before heading home. We stopped at Target, then browsed Babies R Us and chose the baby gear that we need for Nugget, and then decided to bring home a big surprise for the kids!
Dylan and Lexie have been asking for a little pet for a few months now. They were very excited when we gave them their new hamster, which they quickly named Toby!
By the time we got Toby settled into his home, it was past bedtime for the kids. My mom had made me a bunch of fancy cupcakes for my birthday, so Grant, Dylan, and Lexie sang to me and we ate some of them! It was the perfect end to my perfect day!
After the kids were in bed, Grant and I cuddled up on the couch to watch "Eat, Pray, Love."
At 10:23 PM, I turned 31! I have a feeling it's going to be a wonderful and exciting year for my growing family. I am exactly where I want to be in life, and couldn't be happier!
31 is good!
