When Dylan was a baby, we traded in our sporty car for a new, family-friendly SUV. I was a recent stay-at-home-mom, so we decided to save money by only having one car until it was paid off.
We knew it was going to be difficult at times, but Grant worked nearby, so we made it work. It worked well for years, but the past year has been the hardest, due to our schedules becoming busier. We knew we couldn't last much longer without a second car, but we stayed strong, and our determination paid off!
I made the last payment on our SUV today. It was a huge feeling of accomplishment! It's still in fantastic shape, because we took great care of it. Grant had his car custom built, and it showed up at his family's car dealership before it was even scheduled to be built, thanks to his wonderful uncle! The paperwork finally arrived today, so he got to pick it up!
Grant decided to forgo his dream car (a Camaro) for now, and opted for a 2011 Chevy Cruze RS. He picked every option: the color, leather interior, sunroof, remote start, heated seats, and turbo charged engine. It is a beauty! I must say, I'm slightly jealous that I won't be driving it around!
The SUV is all mine, and he now has his own car to drive around. We are so excited to finally have two cars, but only one (lower!!!) car payment!
The weather was so gorgeous today. Dylan was excited to wear a t-shirt with no coat on, and even more excited that he got to play outside at recess! As soon as he got home, we all went outside to play!
We are really looking forward to the weather warming up for good, and super excited about having the freedom to go wherever we want, whenever we want!

So exciting! We've done the one car thing a few times, and it's been so difficult! I've always been SO grateful when the Lord provides another car for us!!! Yay!!!

ReplyDeleteYey for paying off the SUV And whoah brand new car too. Exciting huh! Congraduations! It's hard living on a 1 car thing. I have 2 kids and my husband works so it's driving me crazy with jsut ONE car. But, we manage. So you guys deserve that 2nd car! Beautifulness.

ReplyDeleteJdaddy works for GM, so he got to drive a Cruze around for a little while and he loved it. He said it's a great car. He probably would have gone with that when we got his new car last month, except he has such a long commute that I knew he'd be happier in a bigger car.

ReplyDeleteThat's great news! Wayne recently got rid of his sports car too so we were down to one car (which thankfully is paided off) he just found a truck that he loves and we were able to pay cash for it so we have not car payments! Yay!!!
