It's definitely bittersweet. I'm looking forward to getting a break for a few months, but Dylan and Lexie were blessed with wonderful teachers this year, and it's always hard to say goodbye to such a great year! Plus, they're just growing up way too quickly for my liking!
The end of the school year is always crazy. There are field trips, open houses, concerts, field days, and more! I'm feeling so overwhelmed this week that I can't even think straight. I'm sure the teachers are feeling the same way!!!
The month of insanity kicked off with Dylan and Lexie's Open House/Art Show.
Even though we had been to the school many times over the past year, the kids were so excited to give us a tour of their classrooms (again) and show us everything they were working on! Almost every inch of wall space throughout the school was covered in artwork. We didn't even get a chance to see half of their work, but we tried!
This is the first year that Dylan and Lexie were in the same school building, so we only had to go to one Open House. Next year, Dylan moves up to another school, and they won't be in the same building again until Lexie is in 9th grade!
Dylan and Lexie had a great year in 4th and 2nd grade. They both had wonderful teachers, which makes a world of difference! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Lexie ends up with Dylan's teacher in 4th grade!
A few weeks later, both kids had their field trips on the same day. I obviously couldn't go to both, but I was chosen to chaperone Lexie's field trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo. Field trip chaperone spots are very limited, so she was so excited that I was chosen to go along! It was a chilly day, unfortunately, but that didn't stop the excitement!
We dropped Dylan off at his classroom, and his class headed into Pittsburgh to go on the Just Ducky Tour. He had a great time, and had the chance to steer the boat once they drove it from the street into the river!
Meanwhile, I was given the biggest group of kids to chaperone at the zoo. (One of the perks to being the mom who has the most kids! HA!) The girls in Lexie's group were super sweet!
It was a fun day, and the animals were very active, which made it more exciting! The girls in the group took a liking to me, and we had to play musical chairs on the bus ride home so they all had a chance to sit with me. One classmate loudly announced on the bus that I was so young, like a teenager. I love that kid! Haha!
Lexie was so happy I was there, and even happier when she found out she could leave school early with me! I had a great time with my sweet girl!
Last week, Dylan had his very first chorus concert!
The elementary school got a new music teacher this year and she started a 4th grade choir club. Dylan chose to join, along with just 4 other boys, and all the rehearsals were after school. All the kids were nervous, but they did such a great job! I cried my way through it!
It didn't help that their last song was "When Can I See You Again?" from Wreck-It Ralph, which is all about enjoying the moment, but knowing you have to move on. This is the 4th graders last year in the elementary school. Next year, they move up to a bigger school!
Tears. Big, ugly mom tears.
Our entire family, including grandparents, was there to see Dylan sing, so it was a special night for him!
I'm so thankful for a passionate music teacher who came in and made a difference. I love how she's teaching the kids that music is important! Dylan and Lexie adore her, and Lexie can't wait to join choir when she's in 4th grade!
I'm so proud of Dylan for making the decision to join choir. I hope music is always a part of his life!
I know Dylan is apprehensive about leaving behind the school he went to
for 3 years, and leaving behind his favorite teachers. He had a great
foundation, and that will help him on his journey!
That brings us up to date! There are only 4 days of school left. Dylan has his field day on Wednesday and Lexie has it on Thursday. Even though they're excited for summer break, they feel the same way as I do about leaving behind their beloved teachers and classmates!
Growing up is hard to do!
When Can I See You Again?
When can we do this again?
When can I see you again?
When can we do this again?
When can I see you again?
When can we do this again?
When can I see you again?
When can we do this again?
When can I see you again?
When can we do this again?
When can I see you again?
Switch on the sky and the stars glow for you
Go see the world 'cause it's all so brand new
Don't close your eyes 'cause your future's ready to shine
It's just a matter of time, before we learn how to fly
Welcome to the rhythm of the night
There's something in the air you can't deny
Go see the world 'cause it's all so brand new
Don't close your eyes 'cause your future's ready to shine
It's just a matter of time, before we learn how to fly
Welcome to the rhythm of the night
There's something in the air you can't deny
It's been fun but now I've got to go
Life it way too short to take it slow
But before I go and hit the road
I gotta know, 'til then,
when can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can I see you again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
I gotta know, when can I see you again?
(When can I see you again?)
Joined at the hip, yeah your sidekick needs you
Life is a trip down the road that leads you
Look all around at all the mountains you haven't climbed
It's just a matter of time, before we learn how to fly
Welcome to the rhythm of the night
There's something in the air you can't deny
Life is a trip down the road that leads you
Look all around at all the mountains you haven't climbed
It's just a matter of time, before we learn how to fly
Welcome to the rhythm of the night
There's something in the air you can't deny
It's been fun but now I've got to go
Life is way too short to take it slow
But before I go and hit the road
I gotta know, 'til then,
when can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can I see you again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
I gotta know,
When can I see you again?
Life is way too short to take it slow
But before I go and hit the road
I gotta know, 'til then,
when can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can I see you again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
I gotta know,
When can I see you again?
Don't close your eyes 'cause your future's ready to shine
It's just a matter of time, before we learn how to fly
Welcome to the rhythm of the night
There's something in the air you can't deny
So let me know before I wave goodbye
It's just a matter of time, before we learn how to fly
Welcome to the rhythm of the night
There's something in the air you can't deny
So let me know before I wave goodbye
When can I see you again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can I see you again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
When can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can I see you again?
Oh oh oh oh
When can we do this again?
Oh oh oh oh
Yeah, it's been fun but now I've got to go
Life is way too short to take it slow
But before I go and hit the road
Tell me when
When can I see you again?
When can I see you again?
Tell me when
When can I see you again?
Life is way too short to take it slow
But before I go and hit the road
Tell me when
When can I see you again?
When can I see you again?
Tell me when
When can I see you again?
