Now that we have a family, we have lots of traditions for each Holiday. Along with going to the pumpkin patch, carving pumpkins, roasting seeds, and going trick or treating, one of our Halloween traditions is baking cut-out cookies.
Dylan and Lexie always look forward to cookie baking day, but Lily wasn't too impressed.
The kids got to work, while Lily watched, and eventually fell asleep.
Once the cookies were cut out and put in the oven, it was time for the best part!
Just as we do every year, Dylan and I were in charge of icing the cookies, and Lexie was in charge of the sprinkles!
And, just as it happens every year, the kids decided to quit and eat cookies while I finished up the job.
That's tradition...and I wouldn't like it any other way!
Now I'm hungry for cookies... maybe we should start a cookie tradition over here!

ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh! I was always the one to wrap it up and clean up too, but you're so right. That' perfectly ok! Your tradition is perfect!

ReplyDeleteI love traditions! Makes life and spending time with our children so special.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE sugar cookies! It's a good thing we only make them at holidays. My sweetie is the cubmaster now for the Cub Scout group so I made 72 cookies for Pack Meeting on Tuesday. Now we are making them for the Girl Scout meeting tomorrow. I've made 8 batches of sugar cookies this week!

ReplyDeleteI gotta let my boys destroy my kitchen with cookie dough one of these days, but I'm such a neat freak I'm afraid I'll flip out when I see flour and dough all over the place! Ha!
Cute idea...I love how they are wearing Halloween themed outfits while baking Halloween cookies :) I also like hoe Lexie has her little figurines lined up, as if she is showing them how to bake. So cute!
