First Birthday Party!

Lily's 1st Birthday was celebrated this Saturday with our family and close friends!

We threw her a big Sweet Treats birthday party.  It went perfectly!

I was a bit concerned the morning of her party, because the weather was in the 50's and it was overcast.  It ended up being the coolest day of the summer, with temps in the sixties, but with a few changes, it turned out well!  I had to dig out some warmer clothes from the attic, add a pair of baby legs to Lily's birthday outfit, and turn the baby pool into a ball pit! Luckily, it only rained a bit, and it was comfortable outside!

The birthday girl took a nap while we set up everything for the party.  I had to wake her up after everybody started to show up, so she arrived fashionably late!

Not many family members could make it to the party, other than those closest to her, but we had a huge group of friends there.  I was reminded just how blessed we are. Our closest friends, who are like family to us, came, and most of my blogger/twitter mom playgroup came.  It's hard to believe I didn't even know most of them a year ago.  They are wonderful friends!  There were kids everywhere, ranging from 12 months (Lily) to 13!

I decided on a Sweet Treats theme.  I thought it was the perfect theme for my sweet girl.  Plus, it was easy, and my mom is a baker!  I set up a table with an activity tablecloth and crayons for the kids.  The centerpieces on the tables were also the party favors for the toddlers.  I wrapped beach balls in cello wrap, to look like candy, and taped them to the tables!  We hung balloons, a cupcake birthday banner, and hot pink poms all over the party area.

I hung a photo banner with all of Lily's monthly pictures on the cake/cupcake table, along with a framed picture of her, and special notes the guests could fill out for her memory box.  My mom made Lily's neopolitan cake, along with most of the cupcakes.  Another table was set up as candy bar, complete with cake pops and chocolate covered pretzels, so the older kids could fill a bag with goodies before they left.

Everybody had a lot of fun!  The kids played hard, had a great time hanging out with each other, and the babies loved the ball pit!

We attempted a family picture.  Did you know we have a fourth kid?  We may as well.  He has claimed Lily as his own.

After a picnic-style dinner, and lots of playtime, we sat down for cake. Lily was just as dainty with her cake as she was on her actual first birthday.  It took her forever to eat it, and she only got messy when her BFF, Charlie, gave her a kiss!  The awesome highchair belongs to Steph, and Lily is the 4th baby in our blog/twitter mom group to use it for her first birthday!  At the party, we all signed our babies names and birthdays on the bottom of the chair!

After cake, we immediately moved on to present opening.  I, of course, had to do most of the work!

Lily got a few cute toys, which she loves, and a lot of adorable clothes (which I love!!!). She lost interest quickly, and was happy to be free to play!

After the present opening, some of the guests started to filter out. It wasn't long before this happened:

After a short nap, she was ready to party some more!

We partied late into the night.  Her friends started to fall asleep, but the party animal kept going!

The party wasn't over until 12:30 AM, and the fun continued afterward, when two of the kids spent the night at our house!

Sweet Lily had a perfect first birthday party!

  6. Omg! Lilys party was so pretty and colorful. I'm really sorry we couldn't make it and please don't take it personally, but I didn't want to go into detail but let's just say my incision wasn't looking too good, so I had to get a binder and ordered to stay low. I feel so bad, but I have her gift and I'm so glad her party went perfectly.
