We're Going To Miss This!

Photobucket

When we signed Dylan up for T-Ball, I was excited for him. I never expected that we all would love it so much! He loves playing, and we love watching!

Tonight, he had his last T-Ball game. Technically, the season was over last week, but he had a makeup game today. I think we are all a bit sad that the season is over. Dylan was on a fun team (Grant loved the fact that he was a Tiger), and had a great coach!

I'm going to miss playing at the park with Lexie, while Dylan practices.

I'm going to miss the funny faces and smiles Dylan randomly flashes me while he's playing.

Photobucket

I'm going to miss watching Lexie cheer on her brother.

Photobucket

I'm going to miss the proud look on Dylan's face after he slams the ball.

Photobucket

I'm going to miss watching him run "super-duper fast."

Photobucket

I'm going to miss the end of the game huddles.

Photobucket

It was bittersweet watching the last pep talk and huddle. I am so happy that Dylan had a great first season. When asked if he was going to play again next year, he answered with a very excited, "YES!"

We left behind the T-Ball field, and celebrated Dylan's last game with some ice cream cones at Dairy Queen.

Lexie gave it a thumbs up.

Dylan declared, "This is the best day ever!"

Goodbye, T-Ball! See you again in 9 months!

Happy 25th Birthday to my nephew, Kelvin! I love you, Kel, and I'm so proud of you!

He almost didn't make it to his 17th Birthday, and every year on this day, I thank God that he's still here with us.

Tuesday Tidbits

I have not gone anywhere, other than my backyard, for the past 3 days. The cabin fever has set in. Hence, my, ahhhh, boring attempt at blogging. I am breaking out tomorrow! Can't. Take It. Anymore!!!!

Tuesday Tidbits is my way to record all the cute and funny things that my kids say and do.

Lexie is a pro at coming up with creative explanations. Today's explanation, as to why she picked a scab off her leg, was by far, the strangest. And nastiest.
"Lexie, why did you pick your boo-boo?"
After a brief moment of silence, "I ripped it off because I thought it was a snack."
Excuse me?!?!?

Over the past few weeks, Dylan has taken a liking to sleeping in his skivvies. Hence, the new nickname of Captain Underpants. It doesn't end there. After he wakes up, he parades around for several hours in his little briefs. Lexie decided to join him today. Monkey see, monkey do.

Today, Lexie began drawing people. I think it's so cool when their drawings get better!

Photobucket

Dylan calls tornadoes "tormatoes." I guess they are a cross between a tornado and a tomato.

Lexie turned on the computer at my parent's house. The screensaver is a picture of Dylan and Lexie on Easter. She greeted it by saying, "Hello, Ken and Barbie."

Later, when she printed out a picture that she created, she grabbed it, and said, "Thank you, computer." At least she's remembering to use her manners. ;)

I walked into the bathroom to find Dylan looking in the mirror with his face all scrunched up. He asked, "Why do we get stripes on our nose when we make this face?"

Ahhh, they can be so cute!

Sleepover

Started out great...

Photobucket

...but ended badly.

Dylan is constantly trying to convince Lexie to have a sleepover. This has only worked twice in the past year. Once in his room, and once in her crib.

Lexie is just the type of person who likes her own space. She does fine sleeping elsewhere, but at home, she prefers to sleep alone in her own crib. She has been like that since she was born.

Dylan just doesn't understand why she doesn't want to have a sleepover, and takes it personally. We were all surprised when Lexie agreed to sleep in Dylan's room tonight.

They read books together, played with the Leapster and laptop toy for a while, and then attempted to go to sleep. Not long after I turned out the lights, I heard, "Mommy, I want to go back to my own room!"

Dylan tried to continue the sleepover. "Lexie, can I sleep in your crib with you?"

She flat out refused. "No."

He responded by breaking into tears.

While Lexie enjoyed her own personal space, I was left to deal with Dylan's hurt and disappointment. He kept wailing, "Lexie! I want Lexie! Lexie! Lexie!" Dylan is not one to lose control of his emotions like that, so I felt horrible that he was so sad about it.

Hopefully, Lexie will soon be willing to have sleepovers with Dylan (you know, before they can't stand each other).

Tonight, I was the one curled up next to Dylan as he fell asleep.

Family Movie Night

It was a spur of the moment decision, but tonight turned into family movie night! Toy Story was going to be on TV, and we decided to watch it.

Dylan recently watched part of Toy Story, and really liked it. To be honest, I have only watched bits and pieces of it, and I've never seen Toy Story 2. So we curled up on the couch with homemade strawberry-banana smoothies, and gave it a shot.

Grant is a movie buff and owns a huge collection of DVD's. The kids aren't quite like him yet. They can't really make it through a movie. They constantly leave the room, get sidetracked by toys, or just say they are done watching. Surprisingly, Dylan sat through the entire movie, and it even held Lexie's attention!

Lexie ended up going to bed after the first one, but we decided to let Dylan stay up late to watch the second one. Once again, he was really into it, and sat through the movie! I loved the movies, too. I guess I really was missing out. ;)

Since Dylan loved them so much, we are considering taking him to see Toy Story 3. He has not been to a movie theater yet, mainly because full-length movies don't typically hold his attention. After watching how excited he was about Toy Story and Toy Story 2, I think we're going to take him to his first movie!

It turned out to be a great night. I love when that happens!

A 1st Birthday

This afternoon we celebrated Braden's 1st Birthday!

Photobucket

Dylan and Lexie had a great time running around with Tyler, playing outside in the hot weather, and eating cake!

Tyler's already in the habit of picking up cute chicks. ;)

When we left the party tonight, the kids were sweaty and filthy. They went straight to the tub when we got home. Fun was had by all!

Happy 1st Birthday (a few days early), Braden!!!

What's Going On?

So many things to mention, and so little time, so I'm just going to put them all in one post!

-I broke my finger 3 weeks ago. On Sunday, I started to go without the splint. It still hurts, it's a bit crooked, and the nails on both injured fingers are majorly bruised and disgusting-looking...but that's what happens when you crush your fingers in a garage door!

-Did I mention that I caught the stove on fire on Friday? No? Ha!

-The tooth fairy did pay Dylan a visit on Saturday night. He was so excited to wake up on Sunday morning, and find a $5 bill under his pillow! (Hate to break it to him, but the tooth fairy only leaves $1-$2 per tooth from now on.) He promptly used his tooth fairy and graduation money (Who gives a preschooler money for graduation?!? My mom, that's who!) to buy an Indiana Jones Lego set that he's been drooling over.

-My SUV is fixed, and we didn't have to pay a dime! Phew! Narrowly escaped that $1400 bill. Well, almost fixed. The exhaust system that was replaced last year (with a crappy system), after an elderly lady hit our parked car, lost a hook and needs fixed. Always something!

-On a happier note, the garage door is working again! Grant's wonderful friend replaced the motor and belt, rewired everything, and even put in an exterior keypad, all for the price of $85. I'm so thrilled to have a working garage door again (as are my crushed fingers). The fridge is still leaking and my laptop still shuts off constantly, but at least the garage door works!

-I did, indeed, catch the stove on fire. Well, something in the burner caught fire, and flames were leaping up from the burner. Grant finally put it out with a bag of flour. It took a long time to clean that mess up, and we ended up having granola bars for dinner (had to run to T-Ball). The plus side is that my stove has never been cleaner that it is now!

-Dylan was supposed to have his 5 1/2 year checkup at the dentist on Monday. I made the appointment in person, after his last checkup. I wrote the time down in my planner, as the receptionist was writing it down on the appointment reminder card. 1:50 pm. The times matched. Over the weekend, I got a voicemail reminding me that his appointment was at 10:50 am. I figured it was a mistake, and called in at 9:50 am Monday morning, and was informed that his appointment was in 25 minutes. WHAT?!? Worst scheduling mistake. Ever. Needless to say, I rescheduled!

-Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Pop Tarts rule my world.

Have a wonderful weekend!

A Girl Of Many Faces...And Many Words

To say that Lexie is full of personality would be an understatement. Sometimes pictures speak louder than words...

...and sometimes words are just plain funny.

"Mommy, my belly is sick! My legs are tired! I need medicine!"

"What does red make?"

"Is that Daddy's spiky (that would be spicy) mouthwash?"

"I am comfofbowl (comfortable)!"

"Is BunBun a boy or a girl? He's a girl!"

"That is an icy spoon!" -Spoken by Lexie tonight, as she threw her spoon down in frustration, after her noodles kept sliding off of it.

There are no doubts about it. I am head over heels in love with my little Lexie Bean!

End of the Season

Photobucket

Dylan's very first season of T-Ball has flown by! Tonight was their final game. The Tigers played their hearts out, and celebrated the end of the season with a pizza party and trophies in the park pavilion.

Technically it's only their last regular season game. One of their games that was rained out has been rescheduled for the 17th, and they may have another make-up game.

If the coach-pitch summer league is formed, we will definitely be joining in. Dylan loves playing T-Ball, and we love watching!

Uncle Eric came to the game tonight, and Dylan was really excited!

Lexie sported her new balloon flip-flops. Even though she wore other shoes, she brought them along in her backpack, and eventually changed into them.

During practice, Lexie and I played at the park.

It is so much fun to watch the kids play T-Ball! How can you not laugh?!?

Photobucket

Dylan may have lost his tooth, but guess what? He has another one.

Photobucket

Dylan played really well. He's a good hitter and runner!

Photobucket

Lexie cheered her brother on. They really are the best of friends!

Dylan had a terrific season of T-Ball. I think he's hooked!

He was so proud of his trophy, signed game ball, and treat box. This was such a great experience for him!

Congratulations on a wonderful first season of T-Ball, Dylan! We are so proud of you and look forward to cheering you on in all you do. We love you, buddy!!!
