The Chaos Crew's Weekly Recap

The Chaos Crew's Weekly Recap

Happy Monday! It actually IS a happy Monday, because my kids are off of school today, and my husband is off of work. I would love to say that we're having a relaxing day off, but Dylan has a date with his girlfriend (hold me), and I have a date with the grocery store. BUT...we get to sleep in, and that's a wonderful thing!

The second week of 2019 flew by in a whirlwind of busyness! Germs hit our home this week, too. Stomach cramps hit Lexie on Monday, and Lily on Tuesday. Thankfully, it only lasted a few hours for both of them, and didn't turn into anything else! On Wednesday night, I felt body aches and cold symptoms coming on, and I'm still fighting cold germs. Because I'm pregnant, it's hitting me hard, but it doesn't slow me down one bit! Then again, there's no time to slow down with 4 kids!

Here's a glimpse at our week...

Monday, January 7th

On Monday, my crew headed back to school. Grant decided to work from home since he wasn't feeling great. Of course, Lexie didn't tell me she wasn't feeling well until after we started driving, so I ditched my plans to walk at the park, and took her home instead. After picking Liam up from Kindergarten, the two of us ran some errands. We had to do some shopping at CVS, Walgreens, and the grocery store, then put gas in my car. He was a good sport, but quickly grew tired of it after a morning at school. Back at home, there were chores to do, dinner to cook, homework to complete, then our usual bedtime routine.

On Tuesday, it was Lily's turn to wake up sick! Yet again, my usual morning routine was canceled. Instead, I brought her home to nap after dropping Lexie and Liam off at school. By the time she woke up, she was feeling much better. It was almost 60 degrees in Pittsburgh that day, so I decided a trip to the playground was in order after picking Liam up from school. They were so excited to be out in the warm(er) fresh air!

We headed home for lunch, then I had to go to my 30 week OB appointment. I had to take both littles with me, and unfortunately, the OB was running late. I was pants-less, and the situation was getting dire, but he finally arrived after 45 minutes. The exam was quick, and after a stop at the pharmacy for some meds for me, we headed home. We had our usual family/school night before we all headed to bed.

Tuesday's beautiful weather gave way to snow! The kids had school, but as soon as they got home, they wanted to go play in the snow, even though it was just a dusting. Liam was terrified to go down the hill in the sled for some reason, so I lowered my nearly 31 week pregnant body into the sled, and went down with him. We just might have crashed because I couldn't slow down the sled, and he decided he was done with sledding!

That evening after dinner, Lily had a ton of homework to make up from her missed day, and Grant had to take Dylan to basketball practice. I spent the time taking down Christmas decorations until Grant and Dylan got home, then the kids went to bed, and Grant and I watched Netflix before we went to bed. By that point, I really wasn't feeling well at all.

On Thursday, I was officially sick, and completely dragging. I opted out of my morning workout, and instead, I stayed inside and packed away the rest of the Christmas decorations. I only took a break to pick Liam up from school.

That day, I reached 31 weeks of pregnancy, so Lexie snapped a quick picture for me outside before I had to take Lily to dance class. My dad came over to watch the rest of the crew while we were gone until Grant got home from work. As soon as we got back from dance, Grant and the big kids carried our 10,000 boxes of Christmas decorations up to the attic. The only thing left standing was the undecorated Christmas Tree. (Which, by the way, is still standing!)

Friday, January 11th

Friday was a BUSY day! After dropping my kids off at school, I headed to Target and the grocery store, before heading back to the school to pick up Liam. Back at home, I tackled some cleaning, then did a ton of laundry. That evening, we had dinner at my parent's house. Lily stayed behind for her sleepover, and the rest of us came home to put away laundry and get ready for Dylan's ridiculously early basketball game the next morning.

Saturday, January 12th

On Saturday, we were up before 7 AM for Dylan's basketball game. I was still feeling sick, but I refuse to miss any of my kids' events unless absolutely necessary. Our entire family was at the gym by 7:45, and soon after, Dylan's game began.

The good news was that I didn't have ANY plans for the rest of the day. Grant and Dylan did some shopping, then Dylan went to a friend's house to sleep over, but Lexie, Liam and I stayed home. Liam and I ended up taking a 3+ hour nap! That evening, Lily came home from her sleepover, and some friends came over for game/movie night. I, however, was so drained from the busy week and being sick that I passed out while watching the movie. Thank heavens for good friends who don't judge!!!

Sunday, January 13th

Yesterday, we woke up to a few inches of snow! Dylan came home from his friend's house, and we decided to have a pajama day. The kids did suit up OVER their pajamas to go play outside in the snow for a bit. Even cold weather/snow-hating Liam stayed outside for about 25 minutes!

When we came in, I indulged in some self-care, then I started nesting. Somehow, the nesting instinct is contagious, because my entire family started organizing the house, only taking a break for dinner. We got so much done in just a few short hours. We threw away several bags of garbage, and collected a big box of donations. We have a lot left to do, but it was a great start!

Lily and Liam headed to bed much earlier than the rest of us. Because we had the next day off, we decided to stay up late and watch Netflix. It was a productive, yet cozy day at home!
