At the beginning of December, our Elf on the Shelf returned from the North Pole, and surprised our kids with a Christmas Breakfast! Our Elf, Christopher, has been a part of our Christmas traditions since he arrived a few years ago. Although our kids know the reason for the season, and focus on giving, our Elf adds a bit more fun and excitement to the weeks leading up to Christmas!
This year, our Elf arrived on the evening of December 1st, and set up a Christmas Breakfast for our kids to wake up to the following morning. The North Pole Breakfast is one of our more recent traditions, and the kids always enjoy it. This year, we were down one kid, but next year there will be another seat filled at our table! (We're running out of room!) Since then, our Elf has been entertaining our family each day with his Elf-ish Adventures!
THE ARRIVAL
This year, the Scout Elf Return Week, was November 23rd - December 1st. Every family is different, and every Elf is different, too. Our Elf knows that all four of our kids are in school and have busy lives, so the best day for him to arrive was in the evening on December 1st, after the kids went to bed. While they slept, he set up our annual North Pole Christmas Breakfast, and was waiting for them the morning of December 2nd!
THE DETAILS
My kids were so excited to wake up that morning and discover a festive table and, of course, Christopher waiting for them! Although we have a lot of favorite traditions, this one definitely gets them excited for weeks of fun ahead of them!
I hear that elves love the Target Dollar Spot as much as I do! I got the memo that Christopher did some shopping at Target for some of the stuff that he used for the North Pole Breakfast.
Ornament Tree: Target
Chalkboard: Target Dollar Spot
Milk Bottles: Aldi
Ornament: Target
Gift Boxes: Target Dollar Spot
Plates: Target Dollar Spot
THE GIFTS
Our elf always brings little gifts for our kids. Sometimes it's books, sometimes it's pajamas, but this year, it was little gift boxes filled with Christmas goodies!
ON THE MENU
Our Elf on the Shelf left the ingredients for our special North Pole Breakfast on the counter and in the fridge, along with a note telling me what to make! He provided us with all the ingredients to make a super cute, super sweet, and super yummy breakfast!
SNOWMAN PANCAKES
These snowman pancakes were really easy to make, and they turned out so cute! My girls absolutely loved them. They are perfect for any Christmas or winter-themed breakfast!
Ingredients:
- Pancake Mix (I used gluten free)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (add it to the mix for extra flavor)
- Chocolate Chips
- Marshmallows
- Twizzler Pull and Peel
Make it:
- Make the pancakes in three different sizes: small, medium, and large.
- Use the pancakes to assemble the snowman.
- Add chocolate chips for the eyes and the nose.
- Add the Twizzler Pull and Peel (1 or 2 strands) as a scarf.
- Use marshmallows for buttons.
- Spread marshmallows around the bottom of the plate for "snow."
Optional: You can add candy cane arms and cookie hats!
HOT COCOA
Hot Cocoa is just so much better when it's topped with whipped cream and sprinkles! It's also extra special when it's served in matching mugs that once belonged to a beloved family member who is no longer with us.
CHOCOLATE MILK
What kid doesn't love chocolate milk?!? Pour it into a glass milk jug decorated with a bow and a festive straw for and extra Christmasy touch!
SUGAR COOKIE MILK
This really is a thing, and it's delicious!
SNOWY DONUTS, CANDY CANES, AND PEPPERMINT MARSHMALLOWS, OH MY!
Stack up some mini powdered sugar donuts and candy canes, and scatter marshmallows all over the table to complete this fun breakfast spread!
THE NORTH POLE BREAKFAST
Lexie, Lily, and Liam LOVED this year's North Pole Breakfast, and happily welcomed Christopher back into their lives for a few fun weeks! Being a child (and a parent) at Christmas truly is magical!
ELF ADVENTURES
Our elf has been having so much fun this year, and my kids are loving every minute of it! Lily, especially, is excited about seeing what Christopher's adventures are each day. As soon as she wakes up, she runs off to search for him!
Here's what Christopher has been up to around our home...
The only thing that bums Lily out is the fact that she can't touch or hold her beloved elf, so Christopher came up with a great idea!
Whoops - I don't know if my comment sent, SO. The breakfast is so cute. Love the little baskets everyone got. And I LOVE the jar idea so Lily could carry Christopher around for the day. Very cute. Hope you had a very merry Christmas!
