On Friday, February 22nd, Lexie celebrated her 12th Birthday! I started this blog when Lexie was just 18 months old. Back then it was just Lexie Loo & Dylan Too! The blog has grown quite a bit since then, and a few of my regular readers have been around since the very beginning. The years went by so quickly, and now we're just one short year away from having another teenager!
Lexie had a great birthday this year, and was very relieved that I didn't go into labor on her big day! We allow our kids to have one "cheat day" to miss school each year, and Lexie chose to skip on her birthday. Grant worked from home for a half a day, so the day was all about her, and it was extra special!

How We Celebrated Lexie's 12th Birthday
Lexie had a great birthday this year! As I mentioned above, she chose to skip school on her birthday, so she got to sleep in. Just like we do every year, we put up the birthday banner, sat out the special Happy Birthday plate and candles, and filled the room with balloons while she was sleeping so she could wake up to a little "party!"
Grant worked from home that day, so he could spend extra time with her. When I got home from driving Liam and Lily to school, Lexie had just woken up and was ready for birthday donuts! Grant and I sang Happy Birthday to her, then gave her the first present of the day: the traditional new birthday outfit!
A few hours later, Lexie came with me to pick Liam up from Kindergarten, and we stopped by the park to take a few birthday pictures in her new birthday outfit! They turned out so good, and she really looks so grown up!
That afternoon, we took Lexie to get a new iPod, and treated her to Starbucks...of course, she chose an Icee instead! Shortly after we got home, Lily came home from school, and Grant's mom stopped by for a brief visit. We then headed out for an early dinner at the restaurant of Lexie's choice - Taco Bell! She and Grant had a contest to see who could eat the most tacos, and they ended up tying at 7!
When we got home from dinner, Dylan, Lily, and Liam gave Lexie the gifts they chose for her. It's one of their favorite traditions!
That evening, Lexie and I worked together to make some birthday cupcakes, then some friends came over for a visit. We sang Happy Birthday to Lexie again, and enjoyed the birthday cupcakes!
It's hard to believe that this sweet girl is now 12! She is an incredible human being, and we love her so very much! Happy 12th Birthday, Lexie Bean!
She looks really grown up! I love her answers to her interview. She just can't decide!
