Over the weekend, we celebrated Lily's 2nd Birthday with our loved ones!
This year, we kept the party small. The main reason was the fact that I'm about 527 years pregnant, and with everything else that's going on, I didn't want to have to stress over a huge party. We only invited our parents, siblings, and closest friends, and not everybody could make it. When I say small, though, I mean about 50 people!
I didn't send out invitations, I loosely followed a fairy theme, and we went with picnic foods, but it worked! There was a minimal amount of stress and preparation, and it turned out to be a great party for our sweet baby girl! The weather was perfect and Lily had a great time!
Lily was adorable while opening presents. She meticulously unwrapped each gift, placing each tiny piece of wrapping paper or tissue paper on the ground next to her chair. She carefully examined each gift, smiled, and searched for the gift giver in the crowd so she could say "EEE-You" (her version of thank you!) before moving on to the next present! It took forever, but was so sweet!
This year, on her actual birthday, Lily became obsessed with the Happy Birthday song and blowing out her candles. She was so excited to get to do it again at her party!
Lily spent the afternoon hanging out with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is such a sweet, loving little girl, and adores everybody in her life!
As evening approached, having no nap and a busy day caught up with her.
She quickly fell asleep in my arms. I held her for over a half hour, and then a friend helped transfer her to a makeshift bed of chairs!
She stayed asleep as it grew dark and the rest of the guests began to leave, but woke up while we were in the middle of cleaning up! Luckily, Dylan and Lexie happily kept her busy!
It may have been a smaller than usual party, but it was perfect! We all had a great time celebrating our baby girl!!!
50 people??!! Girl, you crazy! What a special day though and it definitely looks like Lily enjoyed every second. The pic of her passed out on the chairs kills me
ReplyDeleteAnother fun day for the birthday girl!! I wish and plan and think about big parties for Mackenzie and then I get to a month before her bday and say let's just celebrate it on Father's Day with family. (Her bday has been the week before Father's Day since she was born) it ends up being easier and less stress.
ReplyDeleteGlad she had fun!
I love low-key parties!!! She looked like she had a wonderful day!!! Love her cute outfit!!

ReplyDeleteOkay 1... a SMALL party is 50 people?!?! Holy geez! Lol. I'm inviting EVERYONE I can think of for my grand graduation party and it will be 30 total, including my family attending (which is only 2 people I admit) ha - that's just amazing!
ReplyDelete2) Lily cracks me up that she falls asleep *anywhere* Jameson only falls asleep in his bed. We took a 5 hour car ride recently and he WILL NOT sleep. She's so precious all tuckered out!!

Happy birthday to Lily!! Fifty people for me is huge!! Our house can barely fit 20! I love the princess theme, and I love the fact that she made sure to thank each person/family individually for her gift. What a sweet little princess!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the little one had a blast! I cant believe she's already 2!!! Happy birthday Lily!!!
