A Girl and A Dress

I was recently looking for something in my memory chest, and came across a white pinafore that I wore as a child. It is the only piece of clothing I have from my childhood. I came up with the idea to take Lexie's 2 1/2 year pictures in my old dress. It was a big on her, but I just tied the straps back to make it fit!

So we hiked up the hill behind our house to take the pictures in a big field. For once, Lexie actually cooperated and gave me a few smiles!

For such a spontaneous session, I was really pleased with how they turned out! I love my sweet girl!

Alexandria---2 years, 6 months

Dear Lexie,
As of today, you are 2 1/2 years old. As I write this, you are closer to the age of 3 than you are to 2! How did you grow up so quickly?

Here are some of the things you've been up to:

-You are currently potty training. You've made great progress this week, and I think you may be completely day trained soon!

-You talk ALL THE TIME. You even talk when nobody is listening. You have a vast vocabulary and speak in complete sentences. You still mispronounce some words, but I think it's so cute!

-You love to sing and dance.

-Your favorite shows are Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Ni Hao Kai Lan, and LazyTown.

-You are a fashionista. I dress you up everyday, but you love it. You love shoes, jewelry, dresses, feather boas, and tutus.

-You are finally becoming more outgoing. It now only takes you a few minutes to warm up to strangers, or adjust to new situations.

-Your diarrhea is finally slowing down, after 8 very long months. We still don't know what's causing it, but we highly suspect a wheat allergy or Celiac Disease. Hopefully we'll get it figured out soon!

-You are 28 lbs, and 37 inches tall.

-Bun Bun is still a very big part of your life. He goes everywhere you go!

-You are a water baby-you absolutely love to swim!

-You have so much attitude! There are times that you drive your daddy and I absolutely crazy!

-You are still an extremely picky eater. It is my biggest source of frustration with you.

-You love all animals, especially cats!

-You are so sweet, adorable, and funny. Your smile and laughter is infectious.

Lexie Bean, I love you with all my heart. You will ALWAYS be my baby girl!

Happy 2 1/2 years!

Love, Mommy

4 1/2 years

Today, Dylan turned 4 1/2. It's hard to believe that he's been with us for that long. On one hand, it seems as if he's always been here, but on the other hand, I can't believe how fast the years are flying by!

Dylan is still tall and lanky. He is 45 inches tall (3'9) and 38 lbs.

He has his first loose tooth!

He is obsessed with superheroes. He loves Spiderman, Batman, Wolverine, Superman, and Iron Man. He loves anything that has to do with Star Wars. He often pretends he is a superhero, and has to coordinate his outfit to who he currently is. That means, he changes several times a day!

His favorite cartoon is (gulp) Spongebob Squarepants. He also loves Berenstain Bears.

He loves playing outside. We spend hours outdoors, every sunny day.

He is a great eater. His favorite snacks are fruits, vegetables, cheese, and nuts. He loves edamame and pita chips with hummus. His favorite thing to drink is milk.

His junk foods of choice are popcorn and gum.

He has a bit of a developmental stutter. It seems to come and go. Sometimes it gets frustrating, but we are patient with him.

He loves playing games. His favorites are memory, candyland, and cooties.

He still loves to read. His favorite books are Berenstain Bears.

He is amazing at baseball.

He loves animals.

He loves to perform and be the center of attention. He is a ham and a ladies man.

He says that he's going to be a baseball player or a doctor when he grows up. I wouldn't be surprised if he's an actor.

He is still the sweetest little man, despite the attitude and typical 4 year old behavior. He is constantly hugging, kissing, and telling people that they are his best friend or that he loves them so much. He has more compassion at 4 years old than a lot of adults.

I love him to pieces.

Coincidentally, Lexie turned 27 months today.

She and Dylan were both born on the 22nd of the month, so it just so happens that she is the exact same age today that Dylan was on the day she was born.

I can't even remember him at that age. He seemed so much older at that age, than she does now! Probably, because he had the duty of being a big brother.

Happy 27 months, princess!

Happy 4 1/2 years, Dylan! You are now closer to 5 than you are to 4. Stop growing up so fast, buddy!
