We always try to put up our Christmas Tree on the weekend following Thanksgiving! We were really busy this Thanksgiving weekend, so it took two days to put up our tree!
This is most likely the last year with an artificial tree. Grant loves real trees, and even though they make me itchy, I'm going to give in next year! I think cutting down our own tree is going to be a new fun family tradition!
On the Sunday following Thanksgiving, we brought our already assembled tree down from the attic and set it up. We also hung the stockings from the mantle. Everything looked so pretty when we were done! The kids helped and then we watched a Christmas show with Grant's mom, who had stopped over for a visit.
The following day, we decorated the tree after dinner. Liam slept through the tree decorating, but Lily was very enthusiastic!
We follow the same process every year. Grant unwraps the ornaments and hands them out, the kids hang their ornaments and I hang breakable ornaments (and take pictures!), and Grant puts the star on top of the tree. Liam's ornament was the very first one on the tree this year!
We are loving our tree this year! It makes the entire room feel so warm and cozy!!!
it looks beautiful! you do a nice job with the ribbon. I always put mine up and take it off at least 3 times! (and we started cutting ours down a few years ago and just love the tradition. I think you will too!)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like fun and the tree came out great!
ReplyDeleteLooks so Christmas-y and warm. And I think everyone had a good time too (even hanging out under the tree!)
ReplyDeleteThey did a great job!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I love the stockings!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I love the stockings!
ReplyDeleteReal trees are SO fun. I've had a real tree for as long as I can remember. It's such a fun time going to find the perfect one and cutting it down. Plus the smell is awesome.
ReplyDeleteLove the tree and pics of the kiddos! I agree- having Christmas decorations up makes it so cozy!! Too bad we can't leave then up all year :) hope you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI hope to be able to cut down our own tree one year. Sometime artificial is just easier though. :)
ReplyDeleteYour tree looks great!!
The tree looks great :)
ReplyDeleteIt's such a beautiful tree!
ReplyDeleteWe usually take the family out to cut the tree down together, but this year it was just too sloppy out the day we were going. Hubby went and cut the tree down while I waited at home with the kids. I thought they would be bummed, but they were not disappointed at all. I still hope to get back to that tradition next year!
looks awesome!! I think we may cut down our own tree next year, but still use the artificial ones in other spots lol
ReplyDeletePerfect!! =)
