Disney on Ice Frozen

The moment I heard Disney on Ice Frozen was coming to Pittsburgh, I knew we had to buy tickets!  As soon as ticket sales opened, we ordered them.  Which means we have been waiting over 13 months for the actual event!

I didn't remind the girls we were going until about 2 weeks ago.  Lily had an ongoing "this many sleeps until Frozen on Ice" routine and was beyond excited!  On Thursday, the day of the big event, the girls put on their Elsa clothes, we met up with our friends, and we headed into the city!

When I ordered the tickets, I didn't realize just how close we were.  We were just a few rows back from the ice, and had great seats.  The girls were thrilled and couldn't wait for the show to begin!

Of course, before it began, Lexie needed a snow cone and Lily needed cotton candy.  $30 later, they were ready!

The show began with an introduction of some beloved Disney characters.  Lexie and Lily were happy to see some of their favorites!

The arena darkened, and when the introductory music began, Lily squealed! Disney on Ice Frozen did NOT disappoint!

The first half was amazing! I love how it stuck to the story line and included all the music, but it was so neat to see figure skating, too. Everybody seemed to be singing and dancing along to the music! Lexie, surprisingly, was the one who enjoyed it the most.  Her eyes were glued to the ice the entire time! 

The first half went much too quickly, but the girls really needed a bathroom break.  (Side note. Racing behind 3 little girls who were holding hands and running through the crowded building was an ADVENTURE.)

After an expensive light up wand purchase, we headed back to our seats, and got ready for the second half.  The second half was every bit as great as the first!

Before we knew it, the show was over.  We were sad to see it end.  It was AMAZING! It was fun and entertaining, and had great special effects.  Lexie and Lily loved it, and I liked it every bit as much as they did. It was our first time going to Disney on Ice and I am SO glad we went! It was definitely a fun and memorable night with my girls!

Of course, going with best friends made the night even more special!  Near the end of the show, I got hugs from three more of my favorite girls! XOXO

I joked that it was one of the most expensive nights of my life, but it was worth it.  100% worth it.  Lexie and Lily were thrilled to be there and they had an amazing time!

It was a night I'm certain my girls will remember for a lifetime.  I, without a doubt, will remember this night with my girls and our closest friends forever.

Frozen Sensory Table

Like most of the world, Frozen is a big deal in our home. Lily fell in love with Frozen when she was 2, and her obsession is still going strong.  I'm not quite sure she will ever let it go!

Over a year ago, we bought tickets to Disney on Ice Frozen.  FINALLY, the big day is here!  Lexie, Lily and I will be heading into Pittsburgh later with some of our best friends for the show.  Lily is incredibly excited!

In honor of the big day, I put together a Frozen Sensory Table for Lily to play with yesterday. We  made homemade snow before, but the kids really enjoyed playing with a snow filled water table at birthday party last summer. I combined that idea with another sensory table filler.

Much to Liam's dismay, I dumped out the bird seed, took the table outside, and got it ready for Lily. This idea has been on my editorial calendar for many months, but I wasn't counting on the fact that it would be a nearly 75 degree winter day yesterday! 

Lily was still able to play for an hour before things became, ahem, a little less Frozen!

To make the Frozen Sensory Table, all you need is a recipe for homemade snow, some ice cubes and a few toys.

Everybody has a different recipe for homemade snow (some use shaving cream and baking soda), but we like to use 3 boxes of baking soda, a container of glitter, and a bottle of inexpensive (white) conditioner.

Pour the baking soda and the glitter into the bin, then add a little bit of conditioner at a time until you can mold it.  It should appear to be crumbly, but it can be molded as well.  (I used the entire bottle.)

For the ice, I dumped 4 trays of ice cubes into the other side of the water table. If you are brave, you can dye the ice cubes blue, purple, or even a rainbow of colors, but I didn't want to deal with dyed fingers this week!

 

Finally, it was all ready for play!

I told Lily to put on her Elsa dress and get ready for some fun.  She had no idea, so she was so excited when she walked outside!

She wasted NO time digging in and it kept her occupied for an hour!

 You can even build a snowman (HA) and stack up those ice cubes to make an ice castle!

After an hour, the ice was nearly melted and Lily was ready to run around. We put the snow into a storage container so the kids could play with it for a few days, and dumped out the ice. Unlike some of our other sensory bin fillers that can stay in the water table for days, this one does need cleaned up, but clean up is easy!

Lily had so much fun with her Frozen-inspired Sensory Table and said she can't wait to play again!

A Dream Come True

Lily is obsessed with Frozen.  She watches the movie over and over again, sings the songs, has tons of Frozen toys and books, wears Frozen dresses and clothing, and thinks she's Elsa. She will actually introduce herself as Elsa when people ask what her name is!

Over the summer, a few local toy stores had Frozen events, and we ended up missing them.  Thankfully, there was another Frozen event at the end of the summer!  Tracy, Steph, and I decided to surprise our girls and take them to it the morning after our campout!





The girls had a lot of fun!  While we waited for our picture time with Elsa and Anna, they got tattoos, made art projects, and played games.











Lily spotted Olaf and ran to him!  She never made a big deal about Olaf, but she found a new love!





Our friends, Lily and Charlotte, did not share the love for giant Olaf.  Lily grudgingly smiled for a picture, but Charlie flat out refused!



Lily loved him so much that she returned for a hug and a dance!




The Little Dude thought he was cool, too!



The girls started to get hot and cranky.  We tried to keep them cool and occupied until it was time to get in line for their picture.



Finally...it was time!!! I didn't tell Lily who she was going to see.  When she walked in the door, her face lit up!

Lily didn't even notice that they didn't look much like Elsa and Anna.  They had the hair and the dresses and that's all that mattered!!!




Lexie is growing up quickly, but she still likes Frozen.  I think she was just as excited to be there!




It was a happy day with my beautiful daughters!
