One of my favorite monthly features last year was The Kids Behind the Blog! I loved linking up each month and sharing the kids who are the backbone of THIS blog. I share plenty of pictures of them, but it's also fun hearing what they think!
Since it's one of my favorites, I plan to continue asking them these questions each month. One day in the future, when they are all grown up, it will be fun to look back on these questions and their answers. Growing up is so bittersweet, but I can't wait to see who they become!
The Kids Behind the Blog - January 2017
DYLAN, Age 12
What's your favorite thing to do or
play inside? "Xbox." (Of course. He's a tween.)
Have you ever seen or played in
snow? If so, what's your favorite snow activity? "Yep. My
favorite activity to do in the snow is to sled and throw snowballs at
siblings." (The second part is kind of vindictive, don't you think?)
What was your favorite Christmas or holiday gift you received? "My pennyboard with light up wheels." (Last minute purchase that he never asked for...SCORE!)
What's your favorite winter vacation you went on? Why? "What? Never gone on one." (He's right.)
Would you rather live where it's warm all year round or have the seasons? "I'd say all seasons." (LIAR! He hates winter.)
ALEXANDRIA, Age 9
What's your favorite thing to do or
play inside? "I guess the card game Uno." (A new obsession.)
Have you ever seen or played in
snow? If so, what's your favorite snow activity? "Yes, of
course. I would have to say...I guess building a snowman or riding on a
sled." (So matter of fact, Miss Priss.)
What was your favorite Christmas or holiday gift you received? "HATCHIMAL! And Scooter. And Barbies." (Oh, the Hatchimal. I can't wait to share that story about how she wasn't expecting one and started sobbing on Christmas morning. Best Christmas moment!)
What's your favorite winter vacation you went on? Why? "I don't have one!" (Maybe because we've never gone on a winter vacation?)
Would you rather live where it's warm all year round or have the seasons? "Ummm...WARM. Of course." (I'm with her.)
LILIANA, Age 5
What's your favorite thing to do or
play inside? "I like to play People and Barbies with Lexie." (People?!?)
Have you ever seen or played in
snow? If so, what's your favorite snow activity? "I played in
the snow and throwed snowballs at each other. I like to build a snowman!" (Nobody better dare correct throwed...)
What was your favorite Christmas or holiday gift you received? "My hatchimal!" (It was all she asked for and it's a hit!)
What's your favorite winter vacation you went on? Why? "I like to go outside and play in the snow!" (Hmmm...maybe she missed the point?)
Would you rather live where it's warm all year round or have the seasons? "I would pick HOT because it's too cold outside right now. Then I would want to move to seasons." (A girl who wants it all! I'm all for a winter home and a summer home. Let's make it happen!)
LIAM, Age 3
What's your favorite thing to do or
play inside? "Play!" (Let me translate this...destroy the entire house in 30 seconds. All day, everyday.)
Have you ever seen or played in
snow? If so, what's your favorite snow activity? "Yes!
Outside!" (I'm truly surprised by his receptive AND expressive language here!)
What was your favorite Christmas or holiday gift you received? "A book! A ball!" (He will say that for everything.)
What's your favorite winter vacation you went on? Why? "LILY!!!" (In his speak, "YEE-YEE!" To be fair, Lily screamed while I was asking this question and he had to scold her. Moving on...)
Would you rather live where it's warm all year round or have the seasons? "That." (Okay. Reader's choice.)
Well, that was fun! As always, Dylan is to the point, Lexie is smart and sassy, Lily is very descriptive, and Liam is a man of few words. Stop back on February 8th for next month's edition!
What funny things did your kids say this month?
Let's Connect!
I'm linking up HERE for The Kids Behind The Blog.
It's so fun to read your children's comments. Lewie loves Xbox too; I'd bet he'd make fast friends with Dylan...especially because Dylan's older. My son loves to gravitate towards older kids. Lexi and Lily's comments are priceless--I remember loving Barbies too!! Liam, of course, is such a cutie. It's all about playing and having fun for him. I'm so glad you're doing this every month. What a wonderful way to remember their personalities at this age.
ReplyDeleteI love the answers you get! They are always so different. But they always have some of the same. And Liam never fails to crack me up. :)
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you guys too. A winter house by the beach and a summer house somewhere perfect.... like a different beach :P #butreally!
ReplyDeleteLove their answers and yeah, we have never been on a winter vacation either so that question threw us for a loop too.
So fun!! I'm with you girls, I would love a winter and summer house too :) We haven't gone on a winter vaca either but I want to make that happen one of these years.
ReplyDeleteLove their answers!
ReplyDelete"I like to play People." Hahahaha. Kids say the weirdest stuff! I'm sure she knows exactly what she's talking about, though! Lol.
ReplyDeleteI love these too, the kids answers are so funny. and I love when kids have their own way of saying things, I'm always sad when it goes away. So I'm with you on never correcting it!
ReplyDeleteSo you ended up getting a Hatchimal for both girls?! That is so exciting! And tell me about Liam's speech. So cute and funny (and good!).
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to their answers (and pictures!). Tell me more about those Hatchimals! Once they hatch, then what?
ReplyDeleteThis. SO entertaining! Love all their answers, seriously speaks volumes about their individual personalities.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling Connor would fit right in with Liam. He too can wreck a house in seconds.
ReplyDeleteEmma's (2.5) favorite game is destroy the room mom just cleaned as quickly as possible.

Oh I love hearing all their different answers! And I still am amazed at how popular those hatchimals are! And relieved Noah had no idea about them ;)
