Our Five Ring Circus: Motherhood

Motherhood is an incredible journey.

Even on the most frustrating days, I'm still able to realize just how lucky I am to have four beautiful souls in my life.  Today, on Mother's Day, I felt incredibly blessed.  I could thank God a thousand times a day for giving me the gift of my children and it still wouldn't be enough.

I am so thankful for the close relationship I have with my wonderful mother, and I'm so thankful that she is so actively involved in Dylan, Lexie, Lily, and Liam's lives.  She knows them almost as well as I do, and they adore her.

My kids are every bit as lucky to have Grant's mom in their lives, too!  I grew up with just one Grandma, and even though I was very close to her, I am slightly jealous that my kids get to experience the love from two grandmothers!

I love my children dearly. If, at the end of my life, I managed to raise four good, kind, loving human beings, I will consider it my greatest accomplishment. No other will compare to it.

My sweet firstborn, Dylan, you are the most loving boy I have ever met.  I am so proud to be your mom.  There are people who will try to beat you down and tempt you with many things, but please don't ever lose the part of you that makes you so special.  You are compassionate, loving, kind, and GOOD.  Hold on tight to that, sweet boy, and you will be able to spread your goodness throughout the world.  You may be a big kid now, but you will always be my baby boy!

My first baby girl, Alexandria, your beauty takes my breath away.  It comes from within, and radiates out of you.  You are so smart, so sweet, so strong, and so loyal.  Your love for everyone astounds me.  You don't see color, gender, size, or ability.  You are able to see the beauty in everyone.  That is what makes you so incredibly special.  Keep on loving everyone around you, sweet girl!

Oh, my Liliana.  My funny, adorable, quirky Lily. You make me smile all the time.  You make everyone around you smile.  You have the ability to make people laugh.  There are times when I feel so guilty because you had to mature more quickly than most kids your age,  and you had to conform to your siblings' schedules and routines, but that also made you strong, independent, and very adaptable. You are such a great kid, Lilybug.  You make me proud!  The world is your stage, Lily, and you will shine!

Last, but definitely not least, my sweet baby boy, Liam.  God knew EXACTLY what he was doing when he gave you to me.  You are the most joyful person I know, and you spread your joy to everyone around you.  There are people who will judge you and only see your disability, but what they will be missing is the amazing gift you offer to the world.  The gift of happiness and unconditional love. Keep on smiling, Liam.  You are loved so much by so many. I will love you and protect you until my last breath.

Thank you, Dylan, Lexie, Lily, and Liam for making my Mother's Day so special.  I truly can't think of a better day than this one.  You make me feel like the luckiest mom in the world!
