Virginia Beach Family Vacation Diary: Day 3

Virginia Beach Family Vacation

It's time to take a break from my regularly scheduled blog content, and go back a few months in time to our Virginia Beach family vacation! We just might have had a 61 degree day yesterday, but the winter blues are hitting hard, and we are in the midst of the coldest, snowiest Winter we've had in years. I am counting down the days until we're back on the beach this Summer!

I was so overwhelmed by the amount of pictures that I took on vacation that I just gave up on my recap after recapping days one and two! But thanks to Liam's sleep study tonight, I had a lot of time to go through the pictures on my laptop. (Does any parent actually sleep during these things?!?)

I've been awake for nearly 24 hours, so every time I tried to write the post I scheduled on my editorial calendar, my mind went numb. So I am taking the easy way out today, and reliving our family vacation through my pictures! It has only been 5 months...at this rate, I just might finish my recap by the time we leave for our next beach vacation! Just keeping it real, my friends!!!

Virginia Beach Family Vacation Day 3

We woke up bright and early on our third day of vacation! Liam managed to stay in a big bed for the first time ever, and he stayed put all night long. I'm not quite sure Dylan was too comfortable...

The Lucky Few

Instead of rushing down to the beach after breakfast, we decided to hit the hotel's indoor swimming pool first! (Now, if you need suggestions on where to stay while you're in Virginia Beach and where NOT to stay, send me an email and I'll fill you in.)

Family Vacation

We eventually made our way down to the beach, with our 500 pounds of beach gear, for an afternoon full of body boarding, sand castle building, seagull chasing, and burying kids in the sand!

It was obvious that somebody needed a nap, so Grant took Liam and the girls up to our suite to relax.

For once, Dylan stayed behind with me so he could body board a bit longer.

We headed back to the room, and Liam woke up happy from his nap, so we sat on the balcony and watched the rain for a bit.

We eventually ate dinner, and we were going to go out on the boardwalk as a family, but the tweens were in a funk. Grant and I almost allowed their crankiness to ruin the evening for the rest of us, but we decided to leave them in the suite, and take Lily and Liam out on the boardwalk for the evening.

We put on our running shoes, grabbed the stroller, and walked for miles! Did I mention that walking on the boardwalk at night is one of our favorite things to do on vacation? The boardwalk is beautiful at Virginia Beach! Because of the rain earlier in the evening, not many people opted to go outside that night. We practically had it all to ourselves!

We walked to one end of the Boardwalk, let Lily and Liam play on the gymnastics equipment on the beach, let them stroll down the boardwalk at their own pace, then walked partially to the other end. We had a great night with our youngest two, and came back to the room to find the grumpy ones sleeping!

  2. We really need to go to Virginia Beach. I haven't been since high school (in March). I am so nostalgic for the summer, too. You took some great pictures!
