Teach Your Kids To Give Back This Holiday Season & Support Tackle Kids Cancer

Teach your kids to give back this holiday season

Christmas is the season of giving, but for many kids, the focus is on receiving. As parents, my husband and I work hard to teach our own four children that it's so much more special to give than receive, and that it's especially important to give back during the holiday season. We don't want to raise selfish, ungrateful children, so teaching them the importance of giving back while they are young is essential!

Although there are plenty of causes to donate to, sometimes it's difficult for kids to make a connection to the cause they are supporting. That's why my family is choosing to support Tackle Kids Cancer this holiday season. Supporting this cause allows my family to make a difference in the lives of children who have cancer. It makes giving back more meaningful, because my own children can easily relate to other children!

Tackle Kids Cancer funds pediatric cancer research and patient care programs, and they are working hard to end pediatric cancer. Did you know that out of all the cancer funding that the government provides, only 4% of the funding goes to pediatric cancer, which is the leading cause of death by disease in children? Because funding is vital for finding a cure, this is such an important cause to support. EVERY single donation makes a difference!

While we were talking about Tackle Kids Cancer, we had the opportunity to read the stories of some of their patients. My kids quickly realized just how much they had in common with many of the children who are battling cancer.

Victoria is just 6 years old like Lily. She loves dancing like Lily, science and soccer like Lexie, animals like Liam, and basketball like Dylan.

Daniel is the same age as Dylan and is now cancer free after 3 years of treatment. He and his family continue to support cancer research.

Little Matthew, who is battling leukemia, thinks that "people should totally give money to help kick cancer's butt."  I have to admit, I completely agree!

These are just a few of the courageous kids who benefit from the donations given to Tackle Kids Cancer. Read more Stories of Courage on the Tackle Kids Cancer website.

  1. This is such a great cause. I can't wait to learn more about this program. My friends son is battling cancer and it is just soooo hard to watch. I will pass on this info to her as well.
