May Days

May started out calm, peaceful, and relaxing...

002

It looked like it was going to be a carefree month.

may1

Oh, how that quickly changed!  All it took was one fall, a nose injury, a trip to Urgent Care, and a trip to the ER to show us that the month was not going to be a calm one! That all happened on days 2 and 3 of May!

005

Those two days were just the TIP of the iceberg.  What we didn't know was that Liam was going to develop a life-threatening infection that was going to send us to the ER the following night, resulting in an ambulance transfer to Children's Hospital and a hospital stay.  All because bacteria entered a tiny cut inside his nose after his injury (most likely from the instrument they used to look for a break).  Cellulitis is SCARY.

After several days of strong IV antibiotics and observation, we were finally able to go home and let life return to normal.  Normal is GOOD.  Moral of the story?  If you get a high fever and a bright red rash that spreads, go to the ER STAT!

Moving on!

I celebrated Mother's Day with my awesome babies...

...and Liam healed completely!

 May2

Life was, once again, calm.  Rather, as calm as it can possibly be in our big, busy family!

May3

We got the amazing news that my almost 30-year-old horse took a turn in the right direction, and is looking at several more years ahead of him!

002

Next thing we knew, it was the middle of the month!

My beautiful boy turned 21 months old...and I cried.

May6

We had a ridiculous cold spell and we were trapped indoors for a few days.  The warm clothing returned.

Dylan and Lexie had their class field trips.  I was lucky enough to be a chaperone for Lexie's class trip to the zoo!

Spring returned just in time for Memorial Day weekend! It was one of the best Memorial Day weekends ever!

Before we knew it, the end of the month had arrived!

Dylan had his choir concert...

...Liam walked...

may11

...we had a park playdate with friends...

may12

(Tell me he didn't plan this!)

may13

...we enjoyed one of our last quiet mornings together of just three of us...

may12

...then May came to an end!

 may15

A VERY rainy end.

It rained today. A LOT.

Of course, May was much more than that. Those pictures are just a glimpse into our lives. There were walks, playdates, dinners, and parties.  There were school events and appointments and afternoons spent at the library.  I just don't take my camera everywhere I go!

May started off quite scary, but it turned out to be a great month!

  4. LOL Those pictures of Liam and Lily toward the end of this post? Liam TOTALLY reminds me of Kevin in the Home Alone movie when he has bedhead. ;)) Sooo Cute!! (Yea, it's June, and I'm referring to Christmas movies, haha!)

  7. I love how you captured the month from beginning to end; it's amazing how many events, both big and little, seem to happen in the blink of an eye. Injuries, infections, celebrations, milestones (Liam walking), holidays...all in a mere 31 days. And as you mention, there was still so much more... Hope your June is full of more happy times, milestones and celebrations!
